Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
Aaron Rogers said:Until I heard about those Pilex tablets, I was lost. There are two kinds, Pilex Himalaya and the one with the blue logo. Honestly, I don't know much about how the first ones work—heard they might not even do much—but man, those other ones are pricey. A bottle of 48 capsules runs you about $200, but trust me, they’re worth it. I had two months of absolute misery, and it vanished in just four days. Totally gone. My advice? Grab those tablets to kill the pain fast, then switch over to Detralex whenever you need to. You can get 60 tablets for $27 just to stop things from coming back. At least, that's my routine the second I feel a flare-up starting. Cheers, hope this helps you guys fight the good fight!

So how does that Pilex actually work? I know Detralex strengthens blood vessel walls—I used it for my veins before—but I didn't really notice it doing anything for my hemorrhoids at the time.

Hey everyone, anyone dealt with bleeding during bowel movements before? I've been dealing with some seriously intense bleeding for a week now—honestly, like what the guy above mentioned, it’s like a damn faucet won't shut off. I've been applying Fact ointment every night and morning before I go, but right now, nothing is doing squat. Even had a loose stool today, and man, the bleeding was just insane again...
I was thinking about switching back to the Fact suppositories; they always seemed to work better for me than the ointment.

like when you aren't careful and eat fast food out or grab peanuts or something super dry...
and obviously, there's that 225 pounds weighing me down.

I sit a lot too, but why on earth do you think peanuts are bad? Personally, I've noticed that when I eat peanuts, my stool actually feels better... it isn't nearly as dry.

Elizabeth Rodriguez34 said:Doctors always tell you that if you suspect there’s blood in your stool, you absolutely have to get checked out with a fecal occult blood test.
It's all over the TV and radio constantly—they preach it like it's the holy grail of preventative screenings to catch colon cancer early.

...and then you come here asking something this ridiculous...

When my Ulcerative Colitis flares up, I've got enough blood to fill a cup—sometimes even up to a decent amount, like 1.5 or 2 deciliters—and honestly, unless you actually get a colonoscopy done right then and there, you have no clue where it's coming from.
Sometimes it's just hemorrhoids acting up, and other times it's inflamed red spots along the intestinal wall.
No amount of creams, ointments, or diet changes does a damn thing for me; nothing works except Salofalk enemas and drinking massive amounts of water to try and soften things up a bit.
And you never know how the flare will hit—constipation, diarrhea, or just weirdly frequent normal stools—until it actually happens.

Could you maybe explain those two terms mentioned above? I'm somewhat new to all this. Btw, I'm dealing with the exact same issues as everyone else here, and now I'm wondering: is it even possible to pinpoint the source of the bleeding if you don't get a colonoscopy while the bleeding is actually happening?

Can someone break it down for me—is there actually any difference between Fact cream and Hemo protect? I’ve been sticking strictly to Fact cream up until now, but the second I stop using it for even a week or two, I start seeing blood when I go. So, I was thinking about switching things up and giving Hemo protect a shot.
Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if I can even function without these creams. If I don't use them, I’d basically have to be on a strict diet and constantly loading up on fiber, which sounds exhausting. Plus, I’m sitting in a chair for over 12 hours a day right now, which definitely isn't helping matters.
Totally forgot to mention—my segment neutrophils are low, sitting at 37.5% (normal is 44.0-72.0). Honestly, this isn't even new; I had the exact same thing going on back in 2014 and 2015.
segment neutrophils 37.5% (44.0-72.0)
eosinophil 7.4% (0.0-7.0)
lymphocyte 44.4% (20.0-46.0)
Was the same back in 2014 and 2015, too.
Molly, can someone please make sense of this for me? I went in for blood work this week, and honestly, everything looks fine except my eosinophil count is sitting at 7.4% (range is 0.0-7.0) and my lymphocytes are pretty high at 44.4% (range is 20.0-46.0). How bad is "high" here? Especially since I haven't been sick or dealing with any kind of inflammation lately? To make things more interesting, back in October last year, my eosinophils were also up (7.5) and lymphocytes were at 46.2. They were elevated back in 2014, too. Is this actually dangerous or am I just overthinking it?

I also had my thyroid levels checked; TSH is hovering right on the edge at 4.80 (0.35-4.94), though FT4 and FT3 look solid. My doctor wants me to go back and retest in a month...
Male, 29 years old.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, so even though I've been dealing with hemorrhoids for a while now, lately things have taken a turn for the worse—it’s started stinging and burning every time I hit the bathroom. My doctor finally gave me a prescription for Fact cream. Now I'm wondering, how often am I supposed to be applying this stuff, and for how long? And honestly, does this actually clear things up after a bit... or am I just destined to be best friends with this tube for the rest of my life? Thanks

Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a GP in Savannah or somewhere nearby?
Thomas Jones4 said:Hey, I need someone to take a look at my labs. I went in for some bloodwork before getting gum surgery just to make sure everything was good to go.
And here’s what I got:
WBC 4.6 (3.4 - 10.0)
DIFF:
Segment 34.7 L % (44.0 - 72.0)
Eosinophil 7.5 H % (0.0 - 7.0)
Lymphocyte 46.2 H % (20.0 - 46.0)

So, high Eosinophil and Lymphocytes, but low Segment.
The doctor asked if I had been sick, had a cold, or dealt with allergies around that time... I wasn't feeling anything unusual, so he basically told me it was fine. 😁 Should I be worried about those high Lymphocytes though?

Oh, forgot to mention this part, not sure if it matters...
Iron deficiency 10.0 umol/L
and low Potassium 3.5 mmol/L
Hey, I need someone to take a look at my blood work... basically, I went in for some routine labs before getting gum surgery, just making sure everything was good to go.
Here’s what popped up:
WBC 4.6 (3.4 - 10.0)
DIFF;
Segmented 34.7 L % (44.0 - 72.0)
Eosinophil 7.5 H % (0.0 - 7.0)
lymphocyte 46.2 H % (20.0 - 46.0)

So, yeah—high Eosinophil and lymphocyte levels, plus low Segmented.
When the doctor saw the high Eosinophil and lymphocyte counts, he started grilling me about whether I’d been sick, had a cold, or was dealing with allergies lately... and honestly? Nothing. He eventually just told me it’s fine. 😁But seriously, should I be sweating these high lymphocyte levels?
Is a total cholesterol of 4.9 too high (div>

You know, someone who doesn't just start handing out prescriptions left and right before they even figure out what's wrong with you. And please, I need someone who isn't stingy with specialist referrals...

Nothing from anyone? Really? :\
