Hi everyone,
Should I be worried about my checkup results? A doctor at the Sun clinic suggested I see a hematologist, though my primary physician wants to run the blood work one more time just to be sure. My internist mentioned that white blood cell counts are often higher in smokers—I've actually never heard that before, and I'm 43—but mine have been elevated for years now.
Here are my labs (just listing the high ones):
Leukocytes 10.9 (3.4-9.7)
Lymphocytes 3.7 (1.19-3.35)
Hemoglobin 162 (119-157)
Hematocrit 0.473 (0.356-0.47)
MCV 99.7 (83-97.2)
MCH 34.2 (27.4 -33.9)
I have a quick question... if I've got this wrong, please just let me know where I should be looking for answers
My leukocyte levels have been running high for about five years now—things like 10.7, 10.5, 11.0. Then recently, it was back up to 10.5, and then five months later, I ended up in the ER because my heart was racing from stress, and it hit 14.7. I guess I’m starting to get pretty worried since nobody ever suggested I get this checked out, but I did end up with strep throat last week: CRP was 35.5 (normal is up to 5) and leukocytes were 10.7
As for meds, I take Keppra and Depakote for epilepsy. My neurologist thinks it isn't related to the medication.
Thanks in advance

It's basically a mix of carrots and pork fat—specifically lard. You take a piece of fatback, just the fat without the meat, and slowly melt it down with some grated carrots. Once the carrots release their juice, you strain it and use that grease as an ointment. I'm not exactly sure about the ratio, but I can find out if anyone is interested. It worked for so many people, almost 100%. Of course, I can't claim it'll work for everyone, but those who tried it... well, I wouldn't even mention it if I didn't think it was worth it. I know how exhausting it is to deal with this for years, and I wouldn't be so heartless. If it helps even one person, then it's not a waste of time. Maybe it won't handle the really severe cases, but for the milder ones, it should definitely help..
I've heard about the lard thing, but never the carrot part. I guess it might help with stage 1 or 2, but for the other stuff.... send me a PM....
Hi everyone, I'm new here and (to be totally honest) I really don't feel like wading through all 115 pages. I did some reading regarding surgeries, but I'm still a bit confused—probably just panicking. My husband has been dealing with this for a while, and after 15 years, I finally convinced him to go to the hospital. He's at a major medical center in Washington, D.C., with internal hemorrhoids (grade 3/4), and they say he needs surgery. They want him to have a colonoscopy first. I haven't seen anyone mention getting a colonoscopy right before a procedure (which is supposedly scheduled for June). His doctor is H. Hochstader, so if anyone has any experience or has heard anything, please help. Apparently, the surgery will be under local anesthesia, though he still has to talk to the anesthesiologist. I know you'll probably tell me to just read all 115 pages, but if anyone has five minutes, could you send me a private message or let me know if it makes sense to look into a private specialist?
