Hey Lola.

I’ve been lucky enough to only deal with mild cases myself, so if I were in your shoes, I’d definitely stick to what the doctors and traditional medicine suggest first and foremost, because honestly, random people on forums like me probably aren't going to give you better advice than a medical professional. 😕

I actually wrote about my own prevention routine back in post #2346 on page 118, which really helped me get things back on track, though those steps might not be quite enough for what you're dealing with right now.

It's interesting that you mentioned constipation, because isn't having hard stools usually the big trigger for hemorrhoids in the first place? It feels like constipation and hemorrhoids are pretty much two sides of the same coin. 😢

Once you've got everything under control, maybe take some time to think about what lifestyle tweaks you could make to keep it from coming back.

There are tons of links out there online that look at this exact issue from all sorts of different angles.
The strictly scientific crowd tends to totally ignore alternative methods, even though those approaches can still work—maybe a little more slowly, but they feel more natural to me when it comes to staying ahead of things.

You'll probably see the best results if you just try combining both worlds.
Just remember, prevention and holistic stuff shouldn't be used as a substitute for actual medicine when you're in the middle of an acute flare-up!

You can't go too hard at the gym. You shouldn't be lifting heavy or pushing yourself too much because that's when those hemorrhoids really start to pop out...

I mean, obviously. It would be pretty crazy to think you could heal an open wound by putting more stress on it through intense workouts—it’s basically the same kind of strain you get when you're struggling on the toilet. How is a wound supposed to actually mend if you keep aggravating it like that?

Plus, all that straining could cause a lump to burst. Honestly, I've heard it might actually be worse if they don't bleed but just keep swelling up instead.

Once things are sorted out, you've got options. Personally, while I was dealing with that constant stinging sensation, I found that just going for light walks or doing some gentle stretching really helped since it gets the blood moving.
Isn't boosting circulation (along with using a good cream) basically the whole point when you're trying to let a wound heal?

Between sitting at a desk all day, not moving enough, and having poor circulation, it feels like I'm just creating the perfect environment for these things to flare up. I'm pretty sure lifting heavy stuff will just make it worse, and even standing in one spot for too long doesn't feel great either.🙂

I'm right there with you on that one.
Back on post #2346 over on page 118, I shared my own little journey through six different treatments, and honestly, looking back at how much better things have been lately, I managed to stay in that sweet spot for about three months straight compared to how I used to feel.

Nothing too groundbreaking here, just some food for thought on how tweaking your daily routine might actually help deal with those pesky hemorrhoids.
Look, I mean this in the best way possible, but if things end up looking a little ridiculous, hey—making someone laugh is a pretty solid goal too, right? 😁
I'm just really hoping we can all find a way to deal with hemorrhoids so they don't keep messing with our lives.😁

Donna Gray81 said:I mean, I honestly feel like that, mostly because I’ve heard so many people swear by it, though I guess at the end of the day, everyone's body reacts a little differently to everything, you know?🤷

Hey there, Paul Evans56.

I mean, everyone’s probably gonna tell you the same thing, but honestly, it's best to just head to the doctor, listen to what they have to say, and really try to get things back on track.

So, if you're dealing with hemorrhoids—and we're not talking about pregnancy issues here—is it actually realistic to think they'll just vanish for good if you keep using that magic XY medication while sticking to all your usual, questionable lifestyle habits?

Maybe this cream helps with circulation too? That’d be pretty great, but honestly, you're probably going to see way better results if you just get moving and throw in some actual exercise.

How am I supposed to expect any healing if we’re dealing with constipation or basically straining against hard stools every single week right on that sensitive area? Honestly, we can definitely manage things by staying on top of our hydration and being more intentional about what we eat!

I mean, let's be real—just tweaking a few daily habits probably isn't going to magically fix a brutal case of hemorrhoids, though I guess it might help a little if you pair those small changes with some much more aggressive treatment.

It really just comes down to a personal choice whether we want to sit around twiddling our thumbs or actually try to do something about our health, though I guess the real question is whether that’s actually doable or if we're all just kidding ourselves with wishful thinking. As far as my own habits go, changing things up has actually helped me get my hemorrhoids under control for now (if you check out my earlier posts, you'll see what I mean).

I’m really not trying to preach here, but honestly, shifting your lifestyle around is just what you gotta do once your body starts sending those little signals that things aren't running quite as smooth as they used to. 🙂

Michael Diaz4 said:After reading through how much you're struggling with this condition, it honestly sounds like things have reached a pretty advanced stage where it's seriously messing with your day-to-day life.

I haven't dealt with any issues all spring because I actually made some lifestyle tweaks based on what worked for me personally.
I'm not saying it's a permanent fix, but for now—we're talking several months here—the hemorrhoids have stayed away.

If I had been dealing with an advanced case, I doubt just being proactive would have been enough to save me.

But if they do decide to make a comeback despite my best efforts, then yeah, I'll obviously take your advice and just go with the only real option left on the table.

From what I can tell, people who don't have massive issues usually manage to avoid ending up under the knife, so I'm really hoping I can stay in that group...

Take it easy, feralsurfer172. 🙂

Michael Diaz4 said:I'm totally sure about this, mostly because I've had my fair share of dealing with hemorrhoids. My doctor just pointed me toward two specific creams to use while I was recovering from surgery, since nothing else really seemed to do the trick much effectively...

Man, I can only imagine how rough that recovery period was for you.

I guess we're just looking at this from two different angles, since you ended up needing surgery while I'm out here trying everything I can to avoid ever reaching that point.

Based on what you're saying, it almost sounds like prevention isn't worth the effort because surgery isn't life-threatening anyway, or like we should just lean on meds since they're the only thing with proven results—basically waiting until things get desperate before acting.

If medication actually fixed the root cause, like how antibiotics kill off bacteria, there wouldn't even be a debate, but a surgeon just fixes the immediate problem, and if we don't address all those underlying risk factors, I worry the whole issue might just flare up somewhere else down the road, which is something neither of us wants to deal with.

Before jumping into anything too extreme, I'm going to try focusing on preventative stuff, which doesn't really cost a dime, just takes a little extra discipline and paying attention to myself.

Is it actually logical to think these lifestyle tweaks will work?
I mean, who knows, but I honestly feel like changing my habits could really back up the more traditional medical approaches. 🙂

Michael Diaz4 said:That’s just plain old nonsense. I've seen enough to know.

Are you guys actually sure about that?

I’m no medical expert or anything, but it feels to me like hemorrhoids are mostly a physical issue that gets way worse as we get older and maybe don't take such great care of ourselves, so I figure things like what we eat and how we live our daily lives really drive up the risk of them showing up in the first place.

I'm totally with you that if things have already gotten pretty bad, you're probably looking at more aggressive treatments, because honestly, those topical creams aren't going to fix the root cause, they're just masking the symptoms.

If you've got a genetic predisposition toward something, there's always going to be a chance it hits you no matter what, but personally, I'm not about to go out of my way to increase my risks for stuff like that, so the real question is whether we actually want to know what we're prone to and if we're willing to stop doing the things that might mess us up down the road.
We don't always get to choose... 😢

It’s funny how much "expert" advice is basically useless while regular folks are out here sharing what actually works for them, and even though everyone's body reacts differently, that doesn't mean a treatment won't work wonders for someone else.

If you're looking for actual advice, just stick to the classics: stay super hydrated, eat things like fresh figs, load up on fruits and veggies, or if things are really backed up, maybe just use a mild laxative for a little bit.

Thanks for the heads up. 🙂

lonefalcon41 said:Milk is loaded with antibiotics, so you really should look into whether that's actually helping you out or just wrecking your system.

Are you totally sure meat has fewer antibiotics than milk, though? I mean, milk is basically nature's perfect food for kids.

If you're aiming for a vegetarian lifestyle, it’s not a bad move for dealing with Hemero, even if it does end up being more expensive and requires a lot more prep work.

I still eat a little red meat myself, even though all the health gurus claim even tiny amounts can spike your risk for certain diseases, and honestly, my Hemero definitely didn't appreciate it when my digestion got wonky after eating too much of it.

Then again, I know this one vegetarian who ended up having such a rough time with it that they eventually gave up on the whole thing entirely.

Wouldn't the smartest middle ground just be eating a little meat, but mostly sticking to poultry or fish instead of hitting the red meat too hard? 😢

vividsailor7 said:The loose stools are basically just from the dairy—lactose intolerance, which is pretty much par for the course at this stage of life.

Yeah, I actually use that little side effect to make sure things don't get too backed up, though honestly, everything is running way too liquid right now, which isn't exactly ideal either, haha. I'm sure there are probably smarter ways to keep things moving without all that drama.

Hey, vividsailor7, what would you suggest I do here? Is hitting the milk once a day at my age—I'm 49 now—actually doing any indirect damage to me? (I know in some parts of the world where people live forever and have everything they need, they drink tons of milk and dairy products).

vividsailor7 said:And as for the last part: yeah, it's overkill.

Just figured it was common knowledge, but I wanted to emphasize it for those of us in the middle-aged or older crowd, since that's where I'm at. 🙂

analogbison62 said:As we get older, those pesky hemorrhoid issues can actually start to chill out, provided you’re proactive about prevention through lifestyle tweaks. Beyond just sticking to the stuff I already mentioned—like loading up on fiber with grains and fruit to keep things moving smoothly—there are a few other moves you can make, like cutting back on red meat from seven days a week down to maybe two or three, while leaning more into fish, poultry, and hearty stews which aren't really staples for everyone anymore. Honestly, there's just so much you can do to stay ahead of the game before things get too uncomfortable...

Totally agree, 🙂100%

Rachel Garcia said:My doctor actually told me I need to cut back on dairy, including cheese, because apparently it can make things pretty hard to pass, which is something I’ve definitely noticed myself.
I've always felt like eating apples in the morning is probably a better move than snacking on them right before hitting the hay. 🙂

I wasn't trying to lecture anyone here, but sticking to a balanced diet with plenty of hydration is a pretty well-known way to stay ahead of constipation.

I wonder if my own issues with loose stools come from not digesting milk properly, or if maybe those grains—like oats, rice, corn, or muesli—act as a sort of digestive regulator for me?
My 80-year-old mom drinks a ton of milk even though she doesn't get much out of it; she doesn't struggle with being backed up, just the opposite, if you know what I mean.
So, that's where the idea of having just one dairy-heavy meal a day came from.

Before I switched to milk, I used to deal with bloating and even cramps sometimes, which usually points to some digestion drama, especially since I tend to drench my pastries in Bioaktiv.

Look, I’m no medical expert, so I might be totally misinterpreting things or just rambling aimlessly here, who knows?
But hey, at least I haven't dealt with any hemorrhoid flare-ups this spring.

At the end of the day, you really should listen to your doctor, but what happens if you follow their advice to a T and still don't see any improvement?
That's when people start looking into alternative, personalized approaches—they aren't a magic bullet for everyone, obviously, but they might help certain groups, even if those alternative methods often have that "little" issue where they don't quite live up to the hype.

I was reading online that bad lifestyle habits and just getting older are major culprits when it comes to hemorrhoids.
We can't stop the aging process, obviously, but I'm hoping that staying active, keeping up with hygiene, and being smart about what we eat early on can slow things down and ease the symptoms alongside whatever standard treatment a proctologist prescribes when things get serious.

Really, anyone can try adjusting their daily habits on their own to make life a little easier while dealing with this stuff.

Boomer.🙄

PS: Just a heads-up, some really serious, life-threatening conditions can actually mimic hemorrhoid symptoms!

Michael Diaz4 said:The surgery I brought up over a year ago really is the only way to get a permanent fix.

Honestly, if things start getting worse, you're looking at either meds or surgery—there just isn't any other way out of it.

The real kicker is whether we can actually slow down how fast this thing progresses.

I mean, getting older is inevitable, but changing up your habits shouldn't make things any worse than they already are.
To be totally real with you guys, I don't know the first thing about medicine.

Take care. 😉

Your doctor probably knows best, but honestly, it’s always just easier for them to hand out a prescription for some heavy-duty meds.

Michael Diaz4 said:Keeping things clean is absolutely vital here, and honestly, I can see where this is heading... you might end up needing surgery.

I tried sticking to strict hygiene, but even then, I ended up dealing with extra complications despite doing everything right.

And let's be real, surgery isn't always some magic fix either—it's pretty brutal, and there's a good chance those symptoms just come crawling back anyway.

At the end of the day, making some lifestyle changes never hurts, regardless of what happens next. ☕

It kind of reminds me of that old saying floating around online: "The older I get, the more I know, but the less I can actually do about it!"😍

Hey there, how’s it going?

I hit my late 40s and suddenly, out of nowhere, I started dealing with this whole hemorrhoid situation, and honestly, it’s been creeping up on me more and more every single year.
Man, I’ve been dealing with this absolute nightmare lately—this weird lump that pops out right after I go to the bathroom, leaving me with some seriously yellowed underwear and occasional spotting, plus this dull ache that just lingers all day long.
So, seeing some bleeding for a few days straight along with constipation—that’s pretty much textbook when a condition starts to flare up.
I know—it’s all about those miles under the belt...

Best thing ever. I really think it might be time to go see a doctor and get everything checked out properly. I guess I should probably go ahead and talk things over with someone first.

Once I finally got that bleeding under control with some Factu ointment, I figured it was high time to actually step up my game and start making some real changes to my lifestyle.

Here’s the breakdown of what’s going on:
-------------
So, I was just wondering how you guys would go about easing up on the pressure, since I've basically just gotten used to living through the grind. Honestly, I’ve been trying to up my game by having two stools instead of just one every single day, but man, it’s a bit of a struggle to stay consistent with it.I usually grab my morning coffee before heading into work and then maybe squeeze in another around 6:00 PM once I've finished up dinner.

When I’m doing my squats, I actually avoid sitting directly on the board—my doctors told me that kind of pressure is pretty rough on the veins—so instead, I... I'm just standing here, practically nose-to-nose with a giant clam.I'm thinking about hitting some ab workouts right before I head out to crush my lifting session. Just taking a quick squat here. I gotta go take care of business.
I usually just get things sorted out in maybe two or three tries, if I'm being honest.
I honestly feel like there's way less strain on all those vulnerable spots now.
Man, I don't know why sometimes a little bit of that "material" just flies way off target and lands exactly where you definitely don't want it to, it's honestly such a total mess.
It's just one of those things where you really have to stay on top of it and pay a little extra attention to get through.

So, after you've taken care of business and given everything a really thorough wipe... I’ve honestly been trying out those ice-cold showers lately, just blasting myself with pure cold water every morning, and man, it’s such a trip how much it actually wakes you up.I'm telling you, don't go doing it ice cold or boiling hot either—just keep it somewhere in the middle.
The move is simple: just hop in the tub, grab the showerhead, and let it rip—though honestly, getting into that awkward position in the basin again always feels like a bit of a struggle.

I was browsing some stuff online the other day—can't seem to track down that specific link right now, though—but I saw this doctor giving some advice. Honestly, you really just need to go for that deep clean..

Just gonna grab some more paper to dab away any leftover moisture or bits of fluid left behind.

That’s all she wrote for now. Honestly, just go ahead and wash your hands like twenty times, it's probably worth the effort.!!!

4.) I guess I’m just one of those people who thinks everything can be improved with a little bit of targeted training, even if we're talking about working on your sphincter muscles..
The doctor mentioned in point three suggested that just taking a few minutes out of my day to squeeze and then relax my muscles would actually do the trick.
I'll definitely get that taken care of. I usually just knock this out right before I brush my teeth at night, keeping things simple..

5.) I’ve really been trying to stick to a diet that keeps things moving smoothly, you know, just eating stuff that prevents that whole dreaded constipation and hard stool situation from ever starting..
There are honestly so many different ways to approach this topic, and it's wide enough to get lost in if you aren't careful.

I always make sure to grab some for either breakfast or dinner. Just a simple bowl of milk, some oats or maybe rice or cornflakes, and a little drizzle of honey... honestly, sometimes you can't beat the classics when you want something easy..
I honestly feel like as people get older, they just can't process milk like they used to, so maybe there’s some kind of hidden laxative effect in there or something.
So, like, magnesium—you know, that Donat mg stuff—can definitely act as a bit of a laxative, and honestly, iron works pretty much the same way as a natural one too.

If you aren't getting enough dairy in your diet every day, you might find that things get pretty backed up and uncomfortable down there.

I usually just grab some dry food from a bakery for lunch at work, so I tend to wash it down with a little bit of whatever I've got on hand. I’ve been thinking about Bioaktiv lately, just wondering if it actually does what it says on the tin or if it's all just hype.Man, I feel like I'm going through packaging like there's no tomorrow, just burning through it constantly.
Keep the meat portions light and just load up on all that fiber-rich fruit and veggies instead.

6.) I really feel like I need to start moving around more, just getting my body in gear and staying active instead of being such a couch potato all day. This one’s specifically for those of you stuck behind a desk all day, just like me.
Honestly, even though it’s absolutely sweltering out there right now, I find it way easier to actually get myself moving compared to those freezing winter months when the weather is just miserable.

So, basically, that’s my two cents on the whole thing.
-----------
I haven't noticed any symptoms popping up for a couple of weeks now, so I'm just out here living my best life and being extra careful about everything I do.
I'm not even gonna lie to myself here—with getting older, those hemorrhoids are probably just gonna make another comeback sooner or later.
You really shouldn't skip that doctor's appointment, because honestly, bleeding can be a sign of some pretty heavy stuff going on under the hood.

Maybe it was just one specific thing that tipped the scales, like everyone being way more active this time of year?
I’m starting to realize that when I’m not dealing with any hemorrhoid issues, it usually lines up perfectly with staying out of jail and having nice, soft stools.

If you’re just starting to deal with some hemorrhoid trouble, there might be a few things on this list that could actually make life a little easier for you. I honestly wanted to see you guys find some relief, so I figured I'd just jump in here and share what’s worked for me.
