Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice?

I’ve run into a bit of a medical issue and could really use some advice. A few days ago, I noticed a swelling on the right side near the anal opening, right where the skin transitions to the usual area. It’s become quite hard and swollen over the last day or two, though it feels like it might have peaked and isn't getting any larger now. It feels like a small, firm lump protruding slightly. There hasn't been any bleeding, but the area is pretty tender and causes significant discomfort when I'm having a bowel movement.
