I was wondering how much blood sugar usually spikes after eating... I tend to have pretty low fasting levels—at least that’s what my last lab test showed—and I checked right after lunch and dessert using my father-in-law's glucose meter today, and it read 4.7 mmol/L... I'm just curious about how much it typically rises after a meal, so maybe I can figure out what my actual fasting level might be.😁
Honestly, I can't go without something sweet; I start feeling lightheaded and just off if I don't grab a little treat.
Best, and thanks!🙂
For healthy people, normal blood sugar levels usually sit somewhere between 3 and 6 mmol/L. Since yours was 4.7 after eating, that seems perfectly fine.
In a healthy person, you shouldn't see a massive spike in glucose after a meal, mostly because insulin and counter-regulatory hormones work together to keep things steady...
