Always the underdog! in Psychology & Therapy ·
So, yeah, honestly, just by putting this thread together, you’ve already pinpointed the issue. From how you're laying everything out, it seems like you've got a pretty solid handle on rationalizing the whole situation. Your brain is definitely working the way it should. I say that because it gives you a massive edge over a ton of other women who find themselves in this exact same spot but just keep lying to themselves about what's actually going wrong. They can't see it, but you clearly can.
Now that you've realized that, don't let yourself fall into being consciously miserable. Or, you know, just settling for being in the same position as everyone else.
Can a name cause trauma? in Psychology ·
Kids can be total jerks. I remember back in elementary school, if you had even the slightest hint of an unusual name or last name (myself included 🤣), you were basically just a walking target for everyone to make fun of. I vividly remember this one little brat who, the second she heard my last name, ran off to find her friend, shouting at her while pointing right at me, "Hey, you know what this name means, right? You know, you knoooow!" Such a mean-spirited little brat🙄.
Luckily, things leveled out once I hit high school and everyone thought it was actually pretty cool😁
Honestly, these days, I wouldn't trade my name for anyone else's, not even for some generic Anne Horvat or John Smith
Lynch's The Elephant Man in Movies ·
Honestly, that was probably the most beautiful, moving, and just plain heartbreaking movie I’ve seen in ages. It’s a classic for a reason, I guess. It’s one of those rare films where the ending hits you with this massive wave of catharsis, leaving you kind of questioning yourself, your values, and how you actually view people in this world. To me, that’s what real art—and real cinema—is supposed to do. That's why The Elephant Man is such an absolute gem.
