KYUSS LIVES! - May 30, 2012. Chicago, The Fillmore

The heavyweights of stoner rock—the legendary California icons Kyuss—are finally hitting our neck of the woods. Performing as Kyuss Lives!, they’ll be making their big debut at The Fillmore in Chicago this Wednesday, May 30th.

Tickets for Kyuss Lives! go on sale Friday, February 3rd via Ticketmaster and www.ticketmaster.com.

Early bird tickets are priced at $43 and stay available until February 19th. From February 20th through May 29th, the price shifts to $50, with the final price on show day being $60 for this stoner rock masterclass.

This is the band that laid the foundation for an entire genre—a sound that has been endlessly imitated. After a 15-year hiatus, they've returned to the global stage with a lineup featuring three of the four original members: John Garcia on vocals, Brant Bjork on drums, and Nick Oliveri on bass.

The only missing piece is the legendary Josh Homme, who went on to found Queens of The Stone Age. Interestingly, he actually gave the green light to this current lineup and has even joined them on stage a few times. Since John Garcia once noted there is no Kyuss without Homme, the group opted for the new name. Instead of Homme, the guitar duties fall to Belgian musician Bruno Fevery, who previously worked with him in the 'Garcia plays Kyuss' project.

During their initial run in the early '90s, Kyuss released four albums, though they didn't see massive mainstream success at the time. The cult following exploded after they split, especially as major bands like Tool began covering their tracks and citing them as primary influences. Once Queens of The Stone Age hit the mainstream, interest in Kyuss skyrocketed, leading to massive offers from festival promoters worldwide.
The current lineup officially reunited last year, much to the delight of fans globally, embarking on a massive world tour that was a huge success.
They’re bringing that energy to us for the first time on May 30th, and they plan to shake The Fillmore to its very core.
