Don't sweat them, just worry about us
Back in May last year, I got hit with a nasty case of strep throat
It was so brutal I actually had to get a penicillin shot, and then I think I took some kind of 1.5g antibiotic (not 100% sure on the exact name)
Then, just three weeks later, my throat flared up again and I was right back on antibiotics
What I'm trying to say is, ever since that happened, it feels like everything has just been going downhill

Personally, I feel like my life has been a total downward spiral ever since my thyroid issues started. Since then, every single ache and pain seems connected to it.
This stuff is enough to drive you insane, so I totally feel you! 🙂

I honestly don't even know how to respond to all that
I'm feeling some of the same stuff too
My back has been absolutely killing me for the last 6 months, and I'm just constantly wiped out
My blood pressure hit 140/110 and my resting heart rate was up at 100
I've done everything—EKGs, Holter monitors, echocardiograms, stress tests
Got an MRI on my spine, and it’s the classic L5 and S1 issue
Blood work came back fine
Thyroid levels are totally normal too
Yet here I am, feeling like a total freak!

Looks like there's two of us being "weirdos" now.
Just two years ago, I couldn't have been any healthier, seriously
And now? I barely have the energy to function :/
While everyone else is like, "Oh, you're fine!"
I'm definitely going to get those tests done. I think I've already covered most of the basics. Fingers crossed I finally figure out what's actually going on..
Not yet. Everything takes forever around here, so I’ll probably just reach out privately instead.
So... ended up at the ER neurology ward today. Long story short, the left side of my body isn't really keeping up with the right.
I've got to get an MRI of my spine and my arms and legs too.
A bunch of this medical jargon is flying over my head, so if anyone can break this down for me, I’d appreciate it!

-asymmetric pupils
-weakened patellar reflexes
-positive Lasègue sign at 45 degrees
-slight instability during Romberg test

I kind of get the rest of it, but these parts? Not so much. :/
vividsailor7 said:I'm dealing with hypotension myself, so just a heads-up: if these symptoms don't chill out soon, head straight to the ER. They can get you something like Torren than to help.

Just walked out of my doctor's office! She’s basically saying all this is just the heat getting to me. But honestly? What really freaked me out was my tongue feeling numb while I was sleeping... I totally lost it. I stood my ground and insisted she refer me to a specialist, so she finally gave me an order for an EEG and a referral to a neurologist. I'll keep you guys posted once the results come in.

Thanks a million!
Angela Wright said:That’s not just some minor fever. If it spikes any higher, you seriously need to hit up the doctor.

I'm actually heading there right now. They open at two, and I'm practically standing right outside the clinic. I'll let you know 🙂 👋
And just like that, my temp hit 98.6... wait, scratch that, it's up to 99!
Angela Wright said:Go grab a mirror and take a good look. Does one side of your face or the corner of your mouth look a bit more slack than the other? Try making a big cheesy grin and see if both sides pull up the same way or if one side is just lagging behind.
If that’s happening, don't sit around waiting—get straight to the ER. The stuff you're describing is definitely enough of a red flag to warrant an immediate neurological checkup. Either way, you really need to get cleared by a neurologist.

Everything looks totally fine to me, lips and all. I've been making all sorts of crazy faces in the mirror!
It feels completely normal now. For me, the main issue was just this weird, constant fluttering sensation that keeps popping up every few minutes. I honestly thought maybe it was just my low blood pressure acting up. :/
Even though things seem okay right now, I'm still going to head in to see a neurologist just to be safe.
Thanks so much for the help!
vividsailor7 said:1. It basically boils down to two things: either your Nexium dose isn't hitting the mark (check that endoscopy report!), or there's a hitch with your thyroid levels (are you actually euthyroid yet?)
2. Helicobacter pylori isn't a diagnosis itself—it's just the name of the bacteria.
3. When you mention an EGD, I'm assuming you're standing right next to me looking at the results! Sadly, I can't see your reports, or anyone else's for that matter.
It would be smart to get a TSH, fT4, an H. pylori breath test, and some basic blood work done.

Alright, here’s the deal.
I went in for my thyroid checkup, and because of how I was feeling, my doctor sent me over to a GI specialist.
After my endoscopy, the doc told me I had that H. pylori thing, so I was on a cocktail of Nexium, Amoxicillin, Prozac, and Buscopan whenever I needed it.
On top of all that, I was taking Synthroid for my thyroid.
The second time around, my tests and stool samples came back totally clean, so I just stuck with the Nexium.

My first thyroid labs showed T3 at 2.2, T4 at 87.1 (is that too high? just typing what's on the paper), and TSH at 7.7. I started Synthroid, and yesterday my new TSH came back at a normal 2.77.
But man, for the last two days, the dizziness has been killing me, even though the nausea finally stopped. Now my whole body is tingling, and last night it woke me up—especially my face, lips, and my tongue felt numb.😕😕

Do you think it makes sense to get an X-ray of my neck, maybe even a CT scan, or a full blood panel? I'm honestly lost on what to do next.
Just a heads-up, my neck X-ray did show some scoliosis and lordosis.

Thanks! 😢
analogbison13 said:Sadly, you won't find that covered by insurance anywhere. Honestly, I didn't feel any real relief until I just paid out of pocket for private physical therapy after a nasty bout of sciatica. For $50, we were looking at sessions that lasted like two and a half to three hours! We did everything—laser therapy, TENS units, decompression, custom exercises, magnetic therapy, kinesiology tape, deep tissue massage... everything else I tried felt totally useless compared to that.

Thanks for the DM! 😁
I’m not from the city, but I’m pretty close by! Shoot me a DM with your address and the rest of the details, okay? Thanks a million. Honestly, I’m totally lost on which follow-up appointments I actually need to hit up. Like, the doctors are telling me everything looks fine, but I feel absolutely terrible—it's wild. Sorry, I totally blanked on what IPP and EDG stood for... :|
analogbison13 said:When it comes to your spine, you’ve gotta master those scoliosis exercises and hit them every single day. Honestly, massages are just a temporary fix—they won't solve the long-term stuff. Have you ever actually gone to physical therapy for pain? If not, that’s your first move. A PT will give you a specific routine that you can bake into your daily life.

Nope, never been. I swim all the time and stay pretty active with sports. But my doctor was just like, "Oh, you're fine." She basically said our whole generation has bad backs and it's totally normal.
I'm only 25 and I am absolutely wiped out from the pain. I've been diagnosed with both spondylosis and scoliosis, but according to her, it's "nothing special." All she told me to do was keep swimming and leave it at that... 🙂

I've decided to go see a specialist. I'd rather pay the money and finally get some peace of mind.🙂
vividsailor7 said:Hey, give us the actual details! You really need to list all your diagnoses, everything you've taken so far, your height and weight, plus any tests or lab results you've had.

So, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, then later dealt with that H. pylori stuff. For meds, I just told them I take some kind of pill once a day—honestly, I don't even remember the names anymore. I'm still taking Nexium, though.
I'm 5'8" and 147 lbs..

I feel like I gave plenty of info! Those are my symptoms and what I'm on.🤷
I've done basically everything—endoscopy, ultrasounds, blood work for TSH, T3, T4...
Hey everyone! I just joined the forum because I’m hoping you guys might have some insight—honestly, even my doctors seem totally stumped right now. :/, maybe you all can help me figure this out.

So, here’s the deal. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I’ve been through the ringer with meds like Nexium, amoxicillin, and who knows what else. I was popping seven different kinds of pills a day, sometimes twice a day. Right now, I’m on Synthroid 20 mcg. I was actually on 50 mcg for a while before my doctor scaled me down. My ultrasound and bloodwork showed that my TSH, T3, and T4 levels were way, way too high. Now that I’m on the 20 mcg dose, I’m constantly dealing with nausea, exhaustion, and these crazy tremors in my hands, legs—basically my whole body. I feel absolutely wiped, like I can barely move, and the nausea is so bad I’ve been throwing up quite a bit. It hasn't just been a bad couple of days, either; I have zero appetite, and honestly, even the smell of food makes me want to gag when I try to force myself to eat. My doctor is at a loss and doesn't know which tests to run next...

On top of that, my back is killing me. I spend about 12 hours a day sitting at work, and by the end of it, the pain is unreal. I tried getting massages, which helped for a tiny bit, but they’re super expensive and the relief doesn't last. I had an X-ray of my lower spine on Friday, and it turns out I have scoliosis. Should I be really worried about that? Plus, there's the scoliosis in my spine to deal with too.

Please, I need some advice... Thanks so much! 🙂

Oh, one more thing—I dealt with H. pylori a while back. Is it possible that it’s come back?
