The whole point of looking at these particular parameters is to determine whether we are dealing with a brand-new infection or one that’s been lying dormant for a while. In truth, almost everyone encounters the EBV virus before they reach adulthood, and a huge number of people run into CMV as well, so the real task here is distinguishing whether that encounter was recent or happened a long time ago.

In your case, the data suggests this is a fresh infection.

I really appreciate such a quick response. I guess I was wondering, looking at these specific findings, does it seem like it's strictly mono, or is there any reason to suspect something else might be going on too?

Bloodwork results
EBV VCA IgM positive 56 (negative is less than 20)
EBV VCA IgG positive 98 (negative is less than 20)
EBV EA IgG positive 99 (negative is less than 20)
EBNA IgG negative
CMV IgM positive
CMV IgG positive 0.9 (negative is less than 0.4)

Suspected mononucleosis... maybe 25g...

So, what does all of this actually mean for me?
