Dear friends, I am reaching out because I desperately need some advice regarding my mother—she just got back from the doctor with some truly alarming test results. Everything points toward a severe inflammation somewhere, yet she isn't experiencing any typical symptoms "down there." Instead, the issues are all "up top" (I have spent hours scouring the internet, searching for answers, but I simply cannot find anything that connects these dots): her mouth and lips are incredibly painful, her tongue feels like it's burning, and her lips feel constantly tight—she’s perpetually applying balm, though she’s honestly lost track of what even works anymore. Anything she tries to eat causes this intense, stinging sensation, almost like getting soap in your eye...
Take a look at these results (I’m only listing the values that fall outside the normal range):

Test ----------------------- Result --------- Unit ------- Ref. Interval
U - Leukocyte Esterase ----------- +++ ------0/neg.to 3/+++ --- (00-00)
U - Leukocytes ---------------------- 171 ---- count/field -- (00-5)
U - Epithelial Cells ------- 40 ---- count/field -- (00-1)

... I don't quite "get" the medical jargon, but it seems to me that these numbers are significantly elevated, so... please, if anyone has any insight, help me out
My mom does have a history of bladder infections, which makes sense, but it is so bizarre because she isn't showing any localized symptoms at all. And this situation with her mouth? It is absolutely maddening—she has seen every specialist in town, from local GPs to specialists at places like the Mayo Clinic, and yet nobody can make head or tail of it. It is driving her to the brink of insanity. I wouldn't be posting this if it weren't urgent; we are long past the "let's just run to the doctor" phase—we've done that multiple times now—and I am genuinely at a loss for who else to turn to. Thank you so much in advance for any ideas or thoughts you might have.
