Maria Fisher46 said:Based on what you've shared, your mother is dealing with some serious symptoms. Even if her blood work shows only slight deviations so far, you can't just ignore them. Those minor irregularities don't rule out the possibility that there's a significant underlying condition—or even several—brewing under the surface. She absolutely needs more thorough testing and follow-up.

She went in for imaging, and it turns out she has an issue at the first segment (which explains those pains in her back and glutes...).
The report lists the diagnosis as: Discopathy L5 S1
Spondylosis vert.lumb.
Treatment: NSAIDs, refer for physical therapy.

Is it possible for blood in the urine to be linked specifically to that kind of inflammation?
Question regarding my mother's lab results.
So, she’s been dealing with this cough for three months now, and during these coughing fits, she starts choking and feels like she can't catch her breath.
On top of that, she started having back pain—down near the kidney area—which then spread to her hips and glutes.
Because of those pains, she actually went in twice to get injections in the hip, but nothing seemed to help.

She is currently taking an antibiotic, CEFALIN 500 mg—two tablets every 12 hours.

Regarding her blood work, almost everything looks normal except for:
erythrocyte sedimentation 31 (4-24)
erythrocytes 3.83
GGT 7 (9-35)
extremely high CRP 22.80 (0-5)

The blood in her urine is worrying, along with that elevated CRP and the fact that the pain is making it hard for her to walk. She actually went to the orthopedic department at the hospital as an emergency case today so they could send her for whatever imaging they deem necessary.

What do you all think? Is this just some mild inflammation (if so, I assume we won't know where it's located without imaging), or could it be something more serious??

Aside from drinking Donat, what really helps me keep things moving smoothly is a fiber powder supplement that's packed with enough fiber to soften everything up. You just mix it with water, let it dissolve, and drink it down. I usually have mine right after lunch, especially whenever I've treated myself to a heavy meal. For me, it works like a charm.

Linda Ward312 said:Harold James25, my symptoms are this fissure pain and then that burning sensation right after a bowel movement. From what I've been reading, that pain can be absolutely brutal and just linger for quite a while afterward. It wasn't intensely painful for me, but I could actually see the fissure on the outside and feel it when I touched it.

Aha. I don't really deal with any pain or burning once I'm done. My main goal is just keeping things soft so everything passes easily. But on the outside, right by the anus—on the external skin—it burns like crazy sometimes, and it feels like there are these little bumps or an uneven texture appearing, almost like a rash or something. And the itching is just unbearable. Could that be a fissure, maybe an internal one?

Linda Ward312 said:I had surgery about 4 months ago—HAL-RAR plus sphincterotomy. I was dealing with second-degree hemorrhoids and a nasty fissure. Everything was going great until three days ago when, following a stomach bug and some diarrhea, an external hemorrhoid popped out with a lump about the size of a hazelnut. It’s been stinging and burning 24/7. No bleeding, though. I've been applying Fact cream and Hemoex. I'm assuming it's basically a thrombosed hemorrhoid. Will it just resolve on its own? What should I do?

You need to be consistent with the creams (I used Fact) and take some pills for it (I take Daflon). I had a massive external hemorrhoid—though my doctor told me I had internal ones too—that finally receded after about 3 or 4 weeks. From what I've heard, a surgeon won't perform any kind of procedure on a hemorrhoid if it's currently thrombosed. The only option, if you're looking for one, is to have it removed once it returns to its normal color and state. Mine was about the size of two kidney beans joined together. I could barely walk, let alone do anything, but thankfully it went back inside. I don't think mine was thrombosed. Just keep applying the cream and taking the tablets. On top of that, I used to do chamomile tea sitz baths at least 2 or 3 times a day.
Of course, it’s going to take some time to heal. Good luck! 🙂

By the way, I'm curious—how did you feel when you were dealing with that fissure? Any specific symptoms or anything else?

For me, things are moving along quite well. It feels significantly smaller now, and I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to start pushing it in a bit more soon. The best part? There's absolutely no pain involved—I can sit down just like anyone else without any issues at all. 😁

Andrew Carter31 said:Here’s a little home remedy—maybe someone else has shared this already, but I figured it was worth a shot... You take about a cup of wine vinegar (I used some homemade stuff) and bring it to a boil. Then, you set the pot on the floor, strip down, squat over it (to make sure as much steam gets in there as possible), and hold yourself over the vapor for as long as you can stand it. Afterward, just give things a quick wipe (avoiding the tender spots) and you're done. This was a lifesaver for me; it won't cure hemorrhoids, but it definitely takes the edge off when they start acting up... at least for me.
I forgot to mention that mine were external, so I'm not entirely sure if this works for internal ones too.
Hopefully, this helps at least one person out there...
Best regards

Hey, I've got that one external one that just refuses to go back inside. It doesn't really hurt anymore—sitting in chamomile tea helped a ton—but I still can't sit properly because it's just uncomfortable. I'm basically stuck lying down or standing up.
Do yours actually shrink back inside after this treatment, or does it just soothe the irritation? How do you actually get them to retreat back into their "cave"? 😁

Here are my thoughts after about a week and a half of treating my little angel—well, not that he’s tiny, he's about the size of a kidney bean—external hemorrhoid.

I've been taking two Daflon pills a day, applying some Fact cream, and soaking in chamomile baths.
Regular hygiene and a clean diet are part of the routine, too.

Honestly, I don't feel like things are getting any better. Once the stool is completely out, the hemorrhoid tucks itself back inside for a moment, but then it just pops right back out again. It does the same thing overnight—it goes in slightly, then as soon as I start walking around in the morning, it's back out.

I'm applying the Fact cream, but only directly on the hemorrhoid and the area around it. To be truthful, I'm terrified of trying to go deeper because I can't even see the anus clearly through the swelling, and I'm scared I might accidentally shove the applicator or my finger somewhere I really shouldn't.

How long does this "popping in and out" phase usually last? Is there anything else I should be trying?
Maybe I should switch to a different cream, because every time I put on the Fact, everything just stings like crazy.

I'm genuinely worried it won't go back in at all. If that happens, my doctor already told me I'll have to go in for the cik-cak procedure.

Since walking, climbing stairs, bending over—not to mention any kind of exercise—is basically impossible right now, I don't have much choice but to stay in bed. I'm not even sitting; I'm just lying down, shifting from one side to the other.

Please, if anyone has any advice, throw it my way. I would really, really love for it to just stay tucked inside on its own... :/

Maria Reyes35 said:Then it isn't a Bartholin's cyst...
But definitely let us know what ends up being the diagnosis. Good luck, hang in there!

Alright, here’s the update. I saw my primary care doctor today, and she told me I have a large external hemorrhoid. She prescribed some Johnson & Johnson cream and Daflon tablets. Now comes the fun part: I have to get blood work done and provide stool samples three times—basically over three days. Then, I have to see a proctologist for an exam where they'll stick a finger in... (honestly, I am terrified of that part; I’d much rather they just knock me out so they can poke wherever they want).

I'm on a strict diet now: no red meat, no beets, nothing spicy, and absolutely no fruit with skin (like oranges or tangerines).
I have to drink tons of water and stick to liquid foods, plus soak myself in cold chamomile tea.

And to top it all off, she said if this doesn't clear up, surgery is the next step :O So, we'll see if it works or not.

A friend just sent me 30 tablets of Daflon and they're already at the post office...they should arrive the day after tomorrow according to them...thanks to all you good people for the help and the offers of support...

Hey, I went to see my GP today and she told me I have a massive external hemorrhoid (I already knew that, she just confirmed it and then terrified me by using the word MASSIVE) :O

Since we're dealing with the exact same issue and both taking Daflon right now, please let me know if it actually helps with your two external ones. I’d honestly do anything just to avoid having to go under the knife. 🤦

Maria Reyes35 said:Yeah, just like with your client, it's a vicious cycle... honestly, it’s a total horror story..
Thanks for the kind wishes; I really hope you never have to deal with this yourself. 🙂

Just to be clear, for me, it shows up at the edge of the vagina, near the anus, on the right side..
I feel it while bathing or showering, and the second I touch that little pea-sized lump, I know it’s about to flare up..
That little pea grows into a bean within two or three days, then the bean turns into a cherry, the cherry becomes a whole walnut, and that walnut turns into an egg..
Regarding those last two stages, I honestly have so much respect for women who survive that kind of inflammation..
There isn't any specific look to it in terms of color or shape.. it's subcutaneous—you feel it first, and then the swelling becomes visible later..
While the inflammation is small (the pea or the bean stage), there's just some discomfort when walking or sitting in certain positions. Later, as it grows, it becomes difficult—if not impossible—to walk or even sit at all..
Since I don't have any experience dealing with hemorrhoids or fistulas, I can't offer much more advice, but my suggestion is to see a gynecologist and "have them take a look," especially since you suspect it might be a Bartholin's cyst.. you'll definitely have more answers after that..
Don't be afraid of a painful exam; if that's what it is, they won't be able to do anything at this stage anyway except prescribe some medication..
An incision (the procedure to drain the pus) is only done once the inflammation has reached its peak..
Keep me posted; I'm genuinely curious to hear what ends up being the diagnosis..

Thank you. As for the pain while walking or sitting, I'm experiencing all of that too—it's incredibly uncomfortable. Regarding the location, it's not in the vagina or even just to the side for me; it's right by the anus, right at the exit. 😁 I was actually wondering how I'd manage to use the bathroom if this growth gets in the way, but somehow I managed. 😁
I'll have to do something about this and get some exams done, so I'll let you know once I find out anything new. 😉

Maria Reyes35 said:you think it's a Bartholin's cyst?
I'm with you on this one—if that's what it is, I wish you the best of luck. 😳

It’s definitely possible. I don't have any experience dealing with hemorrhoids, but unfortunately, I've dealt with a Bartholin's cyst before. And yeah, they can absolutely cause pain when sitting down or during a bowel movement..

Could you describe what a Bartholin's cyst actually feels like and where it shows up? I've been reading stuff online saying it appears near the labia minor, but that isn't where I'm feeling this.
I've never dealt with anything like this before; I'm honestly in shock at how suddenly this just popped up. I'm certain it's one of those things mentioned (a hemorrhoid, a fistula, or that gland), but I have zero clue which one it actually is. According to the internet, an anal fistula usually involves some kind of yellowish discharge, but I don't have that. Instead, it feels like a little bean right under the skin, the same color as my skin.

No matter how hard you try to stay healthy, something always finds a way to screw you over.

Rachel Davis81 said:If it isn't just a hemorrhoid, then... well, good luck to you.

Honestly, I'm starting to think it might actually be a fistula. It's right by the anus, on the outside—it looks like this tiny little worm-like thing from what I can tell. What am I supposed to do now? Is that just going to clear up on its own?

p.s. I deleted my previous comment because I totally misspoke.

Hi there, I noticed a little lump today—it looks like a skin-colored bean, not bluish or anything, but it’s painful when I sit down or during a heavy bowel movement. Could this possibly be a hemorrhoid?
I've never dealt with anything like this before, but I have been dealing with some hard stools for the last two days, so maybe that's what triggered it. 🤷
Honestly, seeing it caught me a bit off guard. I don't even really eat spicy food or drink much alcohol...
