I would really appreciate some perspective here. So, I’m 33 years old, average build, and I’ve been diagnosed with renal hypertension. I have significant stenosis in my renal artery, and it looks like my right kidney has likely atrophied because of it (it’s down to about 6cm). I’ve gone through a mountain of tests; one notable result was a scintigraphy scan, which showed that my left kidney is doing 98% of the work while the right is only contributing about 2%. I also had an angiography done and am currently waiting on those results. Fortunately, my blood pressure hasn't caused any damage to my retinal vessels yet. My main question is: given the current state of my right kidney, could placing a stent in the renal artery actually improve things? Currently, I'm managing my pressure with Cozaar, though it tends to spike during my period, at which point I take Nebivolol. My potassium levels are running a bit low, and predictably, my renin is elevated. Also, I am a smoker.
