Thanks, Michael Diaz4—your posts actually feel somewhat comforting. Honestly, if I pull through this and everything goes according to plan, I wouldn't want to wait around for things to get complicated again...
Anyway, this diet is killing me. Are you on one right now, or are you just eating whatever you want?
Michael Diaz4, thanks for the comfort—really helped knowing it's normal for it to itch... But honestly, for the last two nights around 3 or 4 AM, this unbearable itching wakes me right up. I have to get out of bed and I'm just lost on what to do... It feels like the itching is actually worse than the pain. For the pain, you just take a pill, but for the itch 🤷 I try using cold compresses... though the fact is, they seem to make it worse... it’s pure misery. I just finished a 10-day course of antibiotics yesterday, and I feel better, except I still can't fully get things back to normal and I'm dealing with this itching... If I can pull through this without surgery, I was planning to head to the doctor toward the end of the year, stay inpatient for a month, and come out a new man...
Since my first symptom—a little blood on the toilet paper—I've been dealing with this for 10 years. This is my second flare-up, so I'm thinking maybe I can dodge the surgery this time too... 🙂
Day 9 of this misery, and the swelling isn't going down—even if the pain has subsided...
Until this inflammation settles enough for me to go in for surgery—which looks like my only real option, despite all the horror stories about postoperative recovery—I have a question for anyone who’s dealt with this crap:
Is there any cream out there that works as well as Faktu but with a different formula? Using Faktu gives me unbearable itching.
Has anyone tried applying local anesthetics like Dolocaine or similar drugs directly onto inflamed, prolapsed hemorrhoids?

@Carl Phillips2, check out page 83—it’s Leslie's detailed breakdown of the surgery.

@gentleraven872, honestly, it’s pretty unlikely you’d have cancer at 17—unless you were out there licking circuit boards... It's more likely your body is just sending up red flags—maybe some hemorrhoids starting to act up... Just tweak your diet, stop sitting on the toilet forever, quit straining so hard, and cut back on the booze...
And man, Leslie—you could have definitely spared me some of those gruesome details about the post-op recovery. Now that I've read it, it sounds absolutely brutal...
Status update: things are looking slightly better, though I'm still nowhere near being fine... Day 7... 😢
Hey everyone, question for Michael Diaz4...
How bad was your inflammation before surgery, and how many days did the recovery take? For me, things flared up three years ago—felt like I was out of commission for about 15-20 days. I went to the same clinic where you had your procedure, and the diagnosis was Stage 4: prolapsed, thrombosed, and inflamed. The doctor showed me that it’s actually possible to push them back in, even though the pain was absolutely hellish, and then just sent me home with antibiotics, a cream, and suppositories... He told me to take the antibiotics, use painkillers, apply the cream, and keep pushing them back in as much as possible... So, I did exactly what he said...
Once the inflammation cleared, I stayed in shape and didn't have any issues for almost three years. Then two days ago (today is day three), they flared up again. This time I didn't bother seeing a doctor; I'm just repeating that same therapy he gave me last time, but I can't remember exactly how long it took before I could start pushing them back in, or when I'd be able to get the suppository in properly...
The truth is, I didn't go through with the surgery for two reasons: first, I couldn't afford it, and second, I'm terrified of post-op complications...
I was scrolling back through the threads and found your posts on pages 82-83... I see you were bedridden for three weeks. 😢 Hopefully mine passes faster...
Man, this hurts...
