Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice?

I need some help here. I’ve been dealing with external hemorrhoids for several years now. Over that time, they’ve flared up twice, and I’ve tried managing them with creams, herbal teas, and even Vaseline, but they just won't go away—they just sit there. When I first noticed them, I went to see a doctor who prescribed a cream, and that was the end of it. However, over the last year or so, I’ve noticed a specific spot that is oval-shaped—sort of like a fingernail—and it's quite thin and flattened. Now, I honestly can't tell if it's actually a hemorrhoid or something else entirely, especially since it hasn't been painful. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?
