Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice?

About 6 days ago in Washington, D.C., I had a procedure at a private clinic for some stage 2 hemorrhoids plus a prolapse. Everything seems to be going according to plan, I guess, except for this incredibly intense pain right at the start when I’m passing stool... even though the stool itself is pretty soft. Did any of you guys deal with this after having hemorrhoid surgery? And how many more days am I stuck with this? It's honestly brutal. I've been taking Advil Forte every 6 hours, which helps okay when I'm not actually on the toilet.
