Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice?

I have a significant issue because my hemorrhoids are quite large. I've experienced bleeding several times over the last few months—streaks of blood and spotting when using the restroom, even without a bowel movement. I tried using Neurobion cream because of the advertisements, but it hasn't helped at all; I don't see or feel any difference. There isn't any pain, but the sensation and the mere thought of having lumps near my anus is unpleasant and frankly a bit alarming. I haven't opened up to my doctor about this yet, even though these problems have been persisting for about a year now.
I've been reading extensively about various creams, but none of them seem to resolve the situation. Please give me some advice. I am fully aware that I need to see a doctor, but aside from that...
