Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·

Last question and then I promise I'll stop bugging you :-) After they deal with the external ones, what happens with the internal ones? Like, does one just grow back, or is that the same one that pops out? It would be absolutely amazing if this procedure could just totally wipe out hemorrhoids for good. Honestly, I've completely overhauled my diet lately and started living much healthier, so this whole situation is just a leftover from my old sedentary lifestyle and eating junk all the time.

Sometimes I can feel the internal ones, meaning they haven't vanished entirely, but they aren't causing me any trouble right now. I guess the real question is whether I'm feeling the one that already popped out or if it's some other one, I don't even know.

Since I'm not in Washington, D.C. right now, she just told me to stick with using Hemero protective cream and a regular laxative. Once I finally make it back to D.C., I'm planning to head straight to her office so we can see if things have actually improved or what the deal is. But honestly, it looks like a visit to a proctologist and some surgical removal is definitely in my future, just like yours.

Just let me know one thing: when you saw the surgeon, was it some special kind of procedure since it's an external issue, or is it just one of those standard ones (like unknown, Milligan-Morgan, etc.)?

And how long did it take for you to fully recover?

Don't even mention it. Yeah, it really does sound like we're dealing with the same thing. And honestly, it wasn't even a "surgery" in the way people usually think about it; I just walked into the hospital like a normal person, went up to the window for the surgical clinic (not even staying overnight in a ward), waited in line, got called in, they took one look at me, and they just handled it right then and there. They gave me a little bandage for down there, sort of like what you get after a blood draw, and then I just headed straight from the hospital back to work—there wasn't any recovery period needed or anything like that. There wasn't any bleeding afterward or any signs of trouble at all.

From what I can tell, it's basically an internal one that pops out and stays out because it gets thrombosed, at least that's my best guess.

Yeah, so I gave her the whole rundown on what was going on, then the surgeon took a look and told me it was just an external thrombosed hemorrhoid, or something like that, if I recall correctly, and that was basically the end of it.

I can't speak for your specific situation, but I went through the exact same thing about two years ago where it just wouldn't bud back in, so I ended up heading to see my doctor, who gave me a referral to a surgical clinic, and once the doctor performed a quick procedure, everything cleared right up. Fast forward six months and it popped up again briefly before receding after a few days, but honestly, I haven't dealt with any issues since then. I really think staying on top of my digestive health made a massive difference, especially since I make sure to stay regular by tossing some chia seeds or the occasional bit of psyllium into my diet, while keeping everything else pretty standard with what I eat and drink. I did feel a little bit of discomfort recently after finishing a heavy round of antibiotics, but it all settled down just fine.

There's no reason to freak out because it's probably nothing serious

I was wondering how much of a difference psyllium actually makes for this kind of thing? Also, is it a big deal if I stick to regular yogurt, or should I definitely be switching over to the lactose-free stuff?

And what about plant milks, like rice, soy, or oat milk?

Honestly, I think everyone reacts a bit differently, but keeping your digestion smooth is pretty much the golden rule when you're dealing with these issues.

I used to think my digestion was totally fine, but looking back, I realize it wasn't great at all and I was seriously lacking fiber. Psyllium can really help out, but for me, the absolute game changer has been starting my morning with oatmeal and chia seeds, which just keeps everything moving perfectly; thank God, because I haven't had any issues for a full year now, even though I haven't overhauled my whole diet or exercise routine. I mean, I still eat basically the same things I always have and I don't obsess over specific food groups. My diet isn't "unhealthy," it's just standard—nothing super fancy or strictly organic.

Of course, symptoms might pop up again occasionally, but I'm convinced that getting enough fiber helps immensely, though you really have to give it some time to let everything settle into a steady rhythm.

Do you think what you're dealing with can be fixed with a simple ligation, or are we talking full-on surgery like Milligan Morgan or LHP, DG HAL RAR?

Anyone else dealing with a constant urge to pee because of hemorrhoids?

So, I dealt with my first bout of hemorrhoids and an external thrombosed one, and things were actually pretty chill until November when another one popped up. I was honestly bracing myself for another thrombosis, but since I knew the drill, I played it smart and just used cold water therapy during showers, and after about two weeks, everything calmed down without even needing ointments. But here’s the kicker: for the last month, I’ve been feeling this super frequent urge to urinate. It doesn't hurt, and nothing feels "off" in terms of pain, but there's this constant, nagging sensation that I need to go, which is driving me absolutely nuts. I don't think it's a bladder infection or anything, but I haven't hit up a doctor about it yet. Is it possible that swollen hemorrhoids could be putting enough pressure on the prostate to cause this?

Honestly, even though my symptoms aren't super severe yet, this whole hemorrhoid situation is getting on my nerves big time. It really messes with my head, especially because I can't wrap my brain around why modern medicine just treats the symptoms instead of actually curing the root cause. Like, how is it that we can't permanently fix this? We live in an era where they can practically transplant brains, swap out limbs, and I heard about a case over at the Mayo Clinic where they performed a bone transplant just ten days after an accident, yet for this specific issue—based on all the endless threads I've read on American forums and elsewhere—there seems to be no real solution. It’s honestly bizarre.

Hey everyone. I wanted to lay out my situation for you all. I'm 31, and for about the last 6 to 8 months, I’ve occasionally noticed what feels like a little sac or bulge sticking out from my anus after using the restroom and wiping. At first, I just assumed it was a hemorrhoid, but since there was zero pain, itching, or bleeding, I didn't think much of it—especially because it only seems to happen sometimes right after a bowel movement. However, a few days ago, that "sac" felt like it grew significantly, and now even after I'm done in the restroom, I have this weird, uncomfortable sensation down there, almost like a little pebble is rubbing against me. Again, no actual pain, blood, burning, or itching, but the discomfort is definitely noticeable. After that, I started digging into this thread and doing some general research. Looking in the mirror, you can actually see this "sac" near the anal opening. So, based on what I've gathered, am I looking at an external hemorrhoid, or is it an internal one that has prolapsed? I tried pushing it back in myself, but I can't get it to go. How much pressure are we talking about here—should it pop back in on the first try, or does it take five or ten attempts? I've started being way more careful with hygiene by using wet wipes and showering immediately after, and I also picked up some cream. Honestly, I'm not sure how much sense the cream makes since I don't really have other symptoms to treat, aside from just having "something" down there. To be totally honest, since I haven't done a visual check until now, I have no clue how long this thing has been hanging out. Maybe it used to slip back in on its own after a BM, and now it's stuck, or maybe it's been out for a while already. Is this definitely a hemorrhoid or something else? The lump isn't soft, but it isn't hard either, and it doesn't hurt when I touch it. For context, my bowel movements have always been regular; I almost never deal with constipation or anything like that. My diet over the last year has been better than ever—I eat everything, plenty of veggies, cottage cheese, eggs—I've actually lost a few pounds, and I hit the gym regularly for fitness, so I generally feel great and healthy. I'm aware that the hemorrhoids might have been triggered somewhat by working out, but quitting the gym isn't an option because the benefits far outweigh any potential downsides. I don't lift extreme weights, just my own body weight (around 198 lbs) and various bodyweight exercises. I do have a sedentary job where I'm sitting most of the day, though I stay pretty active at home, especially during the summer.

So, what should my next move be, and how long should I wait to see if it recedes on its own? Is this definitely a hemorrhoid, or could it be something else, like a perianal hematoma? That actually makes a bit more sense to me, because how likely is it that a hemorrhoid would prolapse to the point where I can't manually push it back in—which would basically be stage 4—without experiencing any other major issues?
