Honestly, this forum is starting to get on my last nerve. I went ahead and installed an ad blocker—or whatever you call those things—but even then, the site keeps glitching out on me. I’m getting hit with constant 503s, 504s, 400 errors, and God knows what else. It’s just sluggish and broken all the time...🙂
Seriously, just go ahead and install AdBlock Plus; my browser is currently being chased by ads at Mach speed.🎉

I just listened to it too, and yeah, I’m with you—it didn't move me one bit. But when I put on a live recording of Whitney (especially I Will Always Love You), I actually get goosebumps.

I still get full-on goosebumps every single time I hear Run to You, and obviously, I Will Always Love You is right up there too...😍

🤔 I feel for you, seriously... it takes a lot of mental grit to deal with that kind of stuff. Maybe your husband—her brother—could try sitting her down for a real talk? If he can see how much she's struggling mentally, he might be able to gently suggest that seeking some professional help wouldn't be such a bad idea.🤷

Maybe she just can't stand him for some other reason. Honestly, I don't waste my energy on people like that; I just distance myself and call it a day. People like that never change. But seriously, it looks incredibly toxic for her to be jealous of her own brother. They'd probably realize she's a total freak before they realized anything else.🤷.

Yeah, it isn't normal to me either, but hey, people are weird... when I mentioned jealousy, I meant they were bitter about how well everyone else was doing, though I guess we interpreted things differently. I can't say for certain since I don't actually know these people; I'm just speculating. And as anyone knows, guessing isn't the same as knowing. Anyway, I was just sharing my take on how it looked to me.🙂

rustymarlin322 said:Right. It feels like everyone who's single is just fueled by pure spite. You can see it in their eyes😲. But look, jealousy isn't just about romance. People get jealous of all sorts of things. Personally, I'm not the jealous type, but if I were, I'd never be jealous of my own people. Who knows what's going on in her head, but being jealous of her own brother? That's a new low. Maybe he just gets under her skin. Or maybe she thinks she isn't good enough for him. She's probably just acting overprotective.

Wait, what are you even talking about? Did I ever actually say that everyone without a partner is jealous? No, I didn't. And besides, you're speaking from your own experience—just because you wouldn't be jealous of your brother doesn't mean it's a universal rule. I personally know a woman who is incredibly jealous of her brother, specifically regarding his success in areas where she's struggling (I won't get into the details here). Nobody is making this about you. You wouldn't be, and I certainly wouldn't, but honestly, there are people out there who really are. Plus, she mentioned she was fine with everything until he popped the question... that's why I'm being so blunt about it. Anyway, I'm not going to go back and forth with you on this.

Exactly. They really ought to go pick up some interest or something and just leave the rest of us regular folks alone.☕

I had a nightmare of a time with my sister-in-law. She turned incredibly hostile the second I told her her brother proposed to me. Her reaction was awful—and she used to love hanging out with me. She started telling her parents we should break up, which was insane. She’d insult me to others, tell her brother how much she hated me, and insist he had to leave me because he wasn't happy (even though he kept telling her we were perfectly fine together). When I finally confronted her and asked why she was being so hateful, she just spewed nonsense, claiming I'd said things about her brother that never even happened. When I asked why she was lying, she just smirked. If I mentioned how much my husband and I loved each other, she’d just look at me with pure disgust. Talking to her was a total waste of breath.

I tried a few more times to show her there was no reason for all this hate, but she just kept spinning lies and talking garbage.

The situation is still going on today; the only difference is I don't let it get to me anymore.

Bottom line? She has serious issues, but she hasn't spent a single second reflecting on herself. She just fixates on me and her brother. My husband thinks her one failed relationship from years ago somehow makes her see us as a target, so she's projected all her problems onto us.

She constantly plays the victim, telling my brother how miserable her summer was or how terrible her day was because of me—even when we hadn't seen each other in over a year. For everything bad in her life, I'm the scapegoat. Even though I have absolutely nothing to do with her life...

So, there's your example of why people meddle in other people's business. They just can't stand their own.

From what I can gather, she isn't married and doesn't even have a boyfriend... it sounds like she's just incredibly jealous of your relationship. Seeing you two happy clearly eats at her. It’s actually pretty pathetic when you think about it—being that resentful toward your own brother and his happiness is just tragic.

Honestly, I think it just comes down to character. Though, yeah, usually those types are just deeply dissatisfied with themselves.

Fair point, though I don't think every single miserable person turns into a bitter, envious jerk... but seriously, props to you for staying above it all.👍

If we really start digging into the psychology of it, we'll find all sorts of different personalities behaving this way. It's just a sad reality of human nature, I guess.😢

Thomas Davis6 said:People like that are just unfulfilled, miserable, and empty. Honestly, they're exhausting and super awkward to be around. That obsession with gossip is one of my biggest pet peeves; those types of people literally drain your energy with all their pointless, useless chatter. Usually, if someone has a full life and a bit of depth, they aren't wasting time on trifles. And let's face it, for a lot of them, it's probably just deep-seated insecurities—they try to validate their own worth by pointing out everyone else's flaws. The only real fix is to just stay away from them.

Spot on... I couldn't agree more. It’s just depressing because it feels like there are so many of them everywhere you look. I don't know... it seems like people can be incredibly malicious, taking their own frustrations out on others just to get a momentary ego boost. What they don't seem to realize is that they're actually the ones looking pathetic, trying to make themselves feel important by tearing everyone else down.🙂

Honestly, I feel for them too. I’ve met plenty of people who just have this deep-seated, desperate need to tear someone else down. I actually had a run-in with one such person once where I had to be pretty blunt—I told them straight up that I’m not built that way. I explained that while I might give someone advice on what they should do with their life or poke at them a bit, there is absolutely zero reason for them to stick their nose in mine or start gossiping about me, especially since I make it a point to stay out of their business entirely. Watching the look on their face was eye-opening; you could just see how deeply insecure they were, and honestly, I just felt sorry for them. When I laid it all out—that I don't meddle in their life, their friends' lives, or even my own—they tried to play it off, spinning it as if it were all just some big joke, blah blah blah. But I think the message landed. It’s a relief to see them realize that people who constantly belittle others are usually just projecting their own frustrations to try and prove they aren't worthless. I really hope they can move past it if they actually care about their own well-being, because at the end of the day, that kind of bitterness only ends up poisoning your own health.

I honestly don't get why people do this. Why is there such a desperate need to drag others down, gossip about their private business, or dissect everything they do? It’s like they find some weird sense of fulfillment in it, acting as if sticking their noses into everyone else's affairs somehow makes them superior or more important than they actually are. It's exhausting to watch.

In my experience, these kinds of people are just fundamentally unhappy. I truly believe that someone who is actually content with their own life wouldn't spend their energy trying to maliciously tear someone else down. If you're genuinely happy, you don't feel the need to meddle in things that have nothing to do with you.
Now, I’m not talking about those trivial comments about what someone chose to wear or other superficial nonsense.

What’s your take on all this?

p.s. I tried searching for a thread on this already, but came up empty.
