So, what started as a nagging cold eventually spiraled into strep, settled down for a second, and then—just a few days ago—hit a peak with a 102 fever. Thankfully, the fever broke on Wednesday, but now my throat is acting up again. I went in for blood work, and while everything else looks fine, the results basically just confirm there’s active inflammation happening right now. My doctor thinks it's herpetic tonsillitis—which I probably picked up from the kids I babysit for one of my student jobs 🙂—though it could have come from anywhere. You know how it is with the weather constantly shifting; your immune system just takes a hit, and there you go. Classic. Anyway, it's viral—not the usual herpes simplex, but some other strain; I can't recall the specific name offhand and honestly, I don't really feel like digging through medical journals to find it. It causes these tiny little blisters and vesicles to pop up all over the soft palate and throat, which eventually burst and leave things feeling... well, drawn out. Has anyone else dealt with this? It isn't excruciatingly painful, just incredibly annoying. I've been sticking to soft foods since my appetite is pretty much non-existent, sipping tea constantly, gargling with sage, and I even picked up some Stryker lozenges because my doctor suggested them. I actually just stumbled upon a Motrin spray online that might help, too. I'd love to hear if anyone has gone through this or has any tips on how to speed up the recovery—I've been dealing with throat issues for nearly a month now... 😢
