Contacts, glasses, or both? in Health ·
restlesspanther42 said:But my prescription and cylinder values don't really translate to contacts—they're just too low. At least, that's what I was told. :/ My prescription is basically L -0.25, D -0.5, and I think the cylinders are about the same thing... I guess.

It’s worth testing things out, getting an exact measurement of your prescription, and seeing if contacts would actually improve your vision. Everything is calculated based on contact lens usage, though if the correction is extremely minimal, the real question is how much of an improvement in visual acuity you'd actually notice. But if you've already had a full exam at an eye clinic, then you can pretty much take their word for it.

I’m not sure if you’re aware, but there are actually daily disposables designed specifically with toric correction, such as Acuvue Moist. They run a bit more expensive—maybe about 10-15% more than the non-toric versions—but you usually have to wait a couple of weeks for them since almost all astigmatism lenses require a special order.
It’s definitely worth keeping in mind, though.

Even though I still keep my glasses on hand, obviously. It’s just incredible how much more of the world I can actually see when I'm wearing them; the field of vision is so much wider.
And honestly, it just feels better overall.😉

That is wonderful to hear, and we're genuinely thrilled to have satisfied lens users in our community. 👍
It’s a valid point, as contact lenses offer a significantly broader field of view than glasses, especially if you're rocking those narrow or small frames. While it might not be such a huge deal for people with a mild prescription, once that prescription starts getting higher...

I just can't seem to get comfortable in contact lenses, yet I have absolutely no desire to go back to wearing glasses. It feels like a losing battle, so when I finally run out of viable options, I’m just going to bite the bullet and go in for laser eye surgery.😁

That really doesn't strike me as much of a solution, to be honest.😕 So, what kind of lenses have you actually experimented with? You have to realize that not all contact lenses are created equal, so there is a very real possibility that you simply haven't stumbled upon the specific brand that works for your eyes yet.
Glasses aren't exactly a bad fallback option either, especially since there is such an incredibly massive selection of frames to choose from these days.

There’s a pretty sweet deal popping up at local eyewear shops right now!

If you pick up two boxes of any Air Optix lenses, you’ll snag an Estée Lauder mascara absolutely free.
Check out the details here at

to find a list of participating retailers near you.
You might want to move quickly on this one, though, because supplies are limited and the offer lasts only while stocks hold out.😉
