Gallbladder polyps: What should I know? in Health ·
Joining the discussion. My doctor recently found a small nodule during an ultrasound—likely a polyp about 4mm in size. They advised a follow-up in 6 to 12 months, noting that if it grows beyond 12mm (or potentially disappears), they’ll recommend gallbladder removal. During my endoscopy, they also found quite a bit of bile in my stomach, so I can't help but wonder if there's a connection... It's a bit unsettling thinking these polyps could turn into something malignant. On the other hand, I'd rather just get the gallbladder out now if necessary, since I've heard that living without it can lead to other issues. I have a consultation with my gastroenterologist this Tuesday, so I'll see what they suggest regarding everything. Also, they mentioned it might be linked to cholesterol levels. Mine used to hover right on the edge at 4.9, though everything eventually stabilized; my last reading was around 3.5, just a week after my stomach procedure. My liver enzymes were slightly elevated then, though still within the normal range. Generally, I've always been thin and find it nearly impossible to gain weight, except during pregnancy...

A quick question for the author: have you perhaps tested for COVID antibodies yet?
Have you all taken the test yet? If you're showing antibodies, it could potentially be post-COVID syndrome...

I'm trying to eat smaller, more frequent meals... because whenever I eat a full portion, I immediately feel bloated. It feels like I have a bottomless pit for a stomach yet nothing actually stays down. Would OmniBiotic 6 ?? be a good option?

During my endoscopy, they said my esophagus looks fine and there's no hernia, which honestly feels surreal given how bad my symptoms are. However, there was bile in my stomach, and the standard inhibitors (which doctors seem to prescribe like candy) aren't doing a thing. I also have a couple of erosions. The diagnosis is biliary gastritis, so I still need to follow up with my gastroenterologist.

Good luck to the OP; I really hope you find some relief soon.
Olivia Gomez67 said:Hi there, did your gastroenterologist ever mention a hiatal hernia? I dealt with really similar symptoms last summer before they finally diagnosed me with one. It’s such an uncomfortable issue and it affects everything... you mentioned quite a lot here—the tingling, stomach nausea, blurry vision, and constant fatigue. You might want to look into that. I spent three months stuck in that same frustrating loop before getting answers. Also, have you had any heart issues, like a racing pulse or anything? That would be worth getting checked out too. Best,

And how did you manage to resolve those symptoms or deal with the hiatal hernia?

I dropped off my sample at the Napa chemical lab today, right before heading over to the endocrinology clinic. They mentioned I should have the results by tomorrow or Monday. 👍 It actually caught me off guard, since their private labs usually quote up to ten days.
Dealing with bile reflux in Health ·
Starting a new thread... It’s a shame there isn't much activity here. Does anyone else deal with non-LOG issues?

I finally received my diagnosis today (though unfortunately)... Biliary gastritis. On my abdominal ultrasound, they also found a tiny 4mm nodule, possibly a gallbladder polyp. I'm not sure if the two are related..

I have a follow-up appointment with my doctor soon, so hopefully they can guide me on the next steps..

For years now, I've been struggling with this strange, constant hunger, even immediately after eating.. On top of that, I have all the typical symptoms of LPR. I also frequently get these hives on my face—this itching sensation similar to a mosquito bite.. I wonder if it's all connected. HP tested negative.. It was only positive once, eleven years ago, when I cleared it with triple therapy.. I also deal with frequent bloating, burping, and my stools tend to be soft with little spots in them. Tomorrow, I'm bringing a sample in for testing for Kaprotectin.. and I'm waiting on bloodwork results for celiac disease.

I've been vegan for three and a half years now.. My fat levels have been normal according to my last labs. Usually, my cholesterol sits right near the upper limit, but everything else is fine. I've always been thin; I can't seem to gain weight at all, except during my two pregnancies when I actually looked healthy and fit. In my most recent labs (done a week after a stomach virus), my liver enzymes, ALT and AST, were slightly higher than usual, though still within the normal range..

If anyone has any advice, please feel free to share.. Is there any way to manage this type of gastritis, or is surgery the only option left?
restlessdriver said:The bacteria is called Borrelia burgdorferi and causes symptoms similar to yours, so it would be wise to rule out this condition.

Lyme disease? I've never actually had that classic "bull's eye" rash anywhere...

It did show up once on my mom's leg, but she was put on antibiotics quickly (doxycycline).

What kind of bacteria are we talking about?
As far as I recall, I haven't dealt with any ticks.
The only thing I remember from the summer of 2014, back when I was still pregnant, was an itch on my stomach that lasted for weeks—just two spots right next to each other. It eventually cleared up on its own...

What exactly are you referring to?

For some context... I dealt with some strange symptoms last summer that have kept resurfacing into this year. They come and go, and honestly, it's been pretty draining. Some of them include tingling, prickling, or a "pins and needles" sensation throughout my body, most notably in my right arm, along with weakness and a heavy feeling in my right wrist. Then there’s hot flashes, ears feeling flushed, and an itchy scalp. I’ve also had frequent heart palpitations and instances where my heart rate spikes up to about 130 bpm (though my cardiologist cleared me, aside from a minor mitral valve prolapse). I get shortness of breath and a tightening sensation in my neck, chest, and stomach. On a few occasions, I've experienced frequent urination, intense thirst, and a dry mouth. There's also this odd sense of lightheadedness, almost like I'm disconnected from my own body... plus some vision issues, where a part of my eye seems to blur for a split second when I blink, or like there's static in the corner of my eye. To top it all off, for the last six years, I've had these mosquito-bite-like welts breaking out on my face accompanied by itching. It comes and goes; doctors suggested it might be chronic idiopathic urticaria. My kidney function is fine. During my pregnancy, I was on low doses of Synthroid... I haven't taken it in six months now, but I have a hormone checkup scheduled for tomorrow.

So, that's the "short version"...

Could someone please help clarify these results...
My doctor just noted that everything falls within the normal range..

I am a bit concerned about my ALT, which is right at the upper limit. For as long as I can remember, my levels have usually sat at the lower end, around 9 or 10. My AST is also trending higher than usual, though my GGT remains unchanged.

I did deal with a stomach virus about a week ago, so I wonder if that could have played a role.

The urine sample is also weighing on my mind... Could that be related to my diet?

Tomorrow, I have follow-up bloodwork scheduled for thyroid hormones, calcium, and phosphorus.

For context, I have been vegan for three and a half years now. I've always had a naturally thin build—just my genetics and metabolism. I am 33.

My hemoglobin and other markers seem fine, so I don't quite understand why my iron is low. When the iron drops, my UIBC and TIBC tend to rise. I have been taking Nature Made Iron (20mg) preventatively, though I stopped a few days ago for testing. I also take a Beta Glucan immune complex. I’ve been breastfeeding for a year, and having breastfed previously as well, I feel like my immune system is a bit depleted and I'm losing weight...

Does anyone have recommendations for further testing, such as an abdominal ultrasound or something similar?

I am not sure if you caught my previous post where I updated my list of symptoms... but there are a few more things I forgot to mention. When this all started five months ago alongside the heart palpitations, I also experienced increased thirst, dry mouth, and frequent urination... On a couple of occasions, my right eye would twitch slightly during a blink, and I occasionally saw what felt like flashes of electricity.

It is quite strange how things will settle down for a while, only for them to resurface again...

During the summer, I would randomly experience this tingling or prickling sensation all over my body, along with weakness and a heavy feeling in my right arm... It was a very unsettling sensation, almost as if I weren't fully present in my own body...
Would you consider these results to be within a normal range?
The lymphocyte and neutrophil counts seem a bit strange to me... they have been outside the normal range or right on the edge for quite some time. I gave birth nine months ago and am currently breastfeeding. This was also the case after my first pregnancy six years ago; for about a year, if not longer, those levels were consistently abnormal or borderline. Back then, my doctor suggested it might just be a virus, even though I didn't feel sick at all, despite experiencing various other symptoms that we couldn't quite pin down. I actually wrote about that here on this thread back then.

Do you think I should undergo any additional testing?

My MPV is also at the upper limit of the normal range..

Thyroid, hormones, and ultrasound are all fine..

Regarding my heart, a few months ago I was told I have mild mitral valve prolapse..

I frequently feel lethargic and exhausted..
Around my sixth month of pregnancy, I started experiencing frequent heart palpitations, which led to me having a Holter monitor, an ultrasound, and an EKG... but nothing serious was found besides that minor prolapse, which shouldn't cause major issues. I was prescribed Quarter-note, although the doctor mentioned it wasn't for long-term treatment but rather as needed; given that my blood pressure is already low at 90/60, I worried it would drop even further, so I never actually started taking it. I did take potassium, as that was below the lower limit at the time.

I’ve also dealt with tingling sensations, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and pulsing in my neck. It feels as though I can't fully expand my abdomen, almost like my stomach is stuck against my spine, making it impossible to breathe normally..

I once had to call emergency services because my pulse spiked above 125, my heart was racing, I felt completely weak, the area around my mouth went numb, and I struggled to breathe—it felt like hyperventilating. Everything finally settled down only after I ate two bananas..

I’ve even started wondering if I might have a hiatal hernia, though during a transnasal endoscopy two years ago (while I was living in Denmark), nothing was reportedly found.

I’ve also had LPR for ten years now, diagnosed a few years back... the therapy hasn't helped. I deal with postnasal drip, throat burning, vocal cord fatigue, occasional mild neck pain, constant throat clearing, and snoring... especially in the morning or after meals. I only had H. pylori once, ten years ago, which was cleared up with antibiotics and has tested negative ever since... what bothers me most is this CONSTANT FEELING OF HUNGER, which actually seems worse after eating.. the only time I don't feel this "hunger" is while I am actually chewing and swallowing food or chewing gum.. I wonder if I should repeat the endoscopy here in the States or perhaps try pH monitoring?? This is driving me crazy and is starting to affect my mental state and mood..

Oh, and I've had scoliosis since my school days; my right shoulder sits lower, my shoulder blades flare out slightly, and my shoulders slouch inward... essentially, poor posture..

Additionally, for the last six years—starting after my first pregnancy—I get this itching sensation on my face that feels like a sting, lasting about half an hour. It happens daily sometimes, other times it passes for a few days. I’ve seen two dermatologists, and based on my descriptions and photos, they suspect chronic urticaria.. it always occurs only on my face, often in the exact same spots. I'm not sure how to link it to anything else... my only known allergies are pollen, grass, trees, and ragweed..

Anyway, I've rambled... if I remember anything else, I will add it..
To looks like anemia combined with some sort of inflammation to me. Perhaps the specialists will have more insight...
Potassium Chloride in Health ·
Quick question... regarding Potassium 3.6 (ref. 3.9-5.1). Is it necessary to take Potassium Chloride specifically, or would standard effervescent tablets from Natural Resources containing Potassium + Mg + C suffice?

Do those first types of tablets cause any side effects?

I recently visited a cardiologist due to some health issues, and they prescribed me one or two tablets per week. Initially, the doctor suggested increasing my intake of tomatoes and bananas... but since I can try the Potassium Chloride as well, I'll see how it goes before my follow-up next month.

Timothy Ortiz2 said:So, about five days ago, this weird burning sensation in my throat just started out of nowhere. It hits me every few minutes—just a sharp sting, nothing else. Lately, my throat feels pretty dry most of the time, and there’s this light coating of mucus. Even my tongue has this faint white film on it. I don't have a cough, and my nose isn't running at all. But man, if I talk for more than a minute, I start getting slightly hoarse. To top it all off, I've been under an insane amount of stress lately.

Classic LPR symptoms...
I know this is an old thread, but I'm really curious if you all managed to resolve this and how...

Ever since I posted here two years ago, I decided to stop my medication that summer because there was honestly zero improvement. Proton pump inhibitors are proven NOT to help with LPR. Aside from avoiding acidic and spicy foods (stay away from anything with a pH below 5) and sleeping on an incline on your left side, my personal recommendation is: look up GAVISCON ADVANCE ANISEED from the USA. Also, try gargling and sipping water with a pH higher than 8. In the States, you can find high-alkaline bottled water to neutralize pepsin in the throat. Daily nasal hygiene helps too... I heard Arm & Hammer spray works wonders, though it might be hard to find locally; it's essentially just saline solution mixed with baking soda. You can always order it online...

Unfortunately, this condition can be lifelong, especially since most doctors will just load you up with Prilosec and things like that, which barely help anyone with LPR. LPR symptoms differ from GERD. You don't get the typical heartburn; instead, the upper respiratory system—mostly the throat area—takes the hit. Google the differences between the two and take action, because our doctors aren't always well-versed in this...

What specific tests are used to determine insulin resistance?
My Ferritin came back today at 25 (Ref range 12-300)

While it falls within the normal range, one could argue it's sitting right on the lower end...

Could my results be affected if I recently started taking Floradix syrup, which contains iron?

P.S. How is it possible for hemoglobin levels tested on the same day to vary between two different vials?

One report shows 7.9, while the other shows 8.5.
