Carol Parker57 said:Maybe some people just aren't great at writing forum posts. They just want to describe what happened to them and share their experience on a thread specifically made for that purpose. Why would anyone bother with advertising on a forum when they could just show up on a celebrity red carpet and get all the attention they need?

I saw Dr. Glusac two years ago for a septoplasty, and I couldn't be happier with the results. This isn't some fucking advertisement. 🙄

If anyone actually wants to see, I can send photos via PM and answer any questions you have.

By the way, jasmine—your nose looks amazing now. It’s a really great, masculine shape. 🙏

Can I see those photos? Thanks!
So, I just got back from my consultation with Dr. Smith... and let me tell you, I was floored when he dropped this on me: "Well, you're actually missing half the cartilage in your nose." The guy was genuinely shocked! As for me? Honestly, I'm speechless. I just stared at him and asked, "What does that even mean?" And he explains that he has to take some cartilage from the back of my nasal passage (somewhere deep inside) just to give the nose some structural integrity. He basically said it’s like having a roof but absolutely no foundation—it’s just sitting there, ready to collapse because there's nothing holding it up. I went in all prepared to ask about different shapes and styles, and instead, for the first time ever, someone tells me, "Whoa, hold on—you don't even have half a nose." What am I even supposed to say to that? I was busy planning a surgery for aesthetics, all while nobody had bothered to mention—or even notice—this until now! Long story short... if any random surgeon had opened me up without catching this, I have no idea what would've happened to me or my nose. You really need a top-tier ENT specialist for this. And if you can find a plastic surgeon who works well with an ENT? That’s the absolute gold standard. Anyway, guys, I'm a total wreck right now—"upset" doesn't even cover it. But hey, thanks to everyone here for everything you write; being able to double-check things like this is the only way we actually get somewhere. Cheers to everyone!
Maria Bishop3 said:Hey everyone on the Forum, especially those dealing with the same stuff I used to struggle with: an ugly nose, a deviated septum, and all that good stuff.

I spent years training in Kickbox, and my nose took just about as much punishment as it could handle. Between all the breaks and injuries, my face ended up looking pretty different—I’ve got this high, hooked, eagle-like nose that’s even crooked from the front, shaped like a damn letter S. On top of the looks, breathing through my right nostril is basically impossible, and the left side gives me trouble too. Honestly, like most athletes, I used to look in the mirror at my nose with total indifference; it didn't really bother me emotionally. But eventually, I realized I couldn't ignore it anymore, so I decided to pull the trigger on surgery.

I’ve spent a long time digging through data and scouting out everything from surgical techniques and recovery timelines to which plastic surgeons actually know what they're doing—whether that's over in Germany or right here in the States. I wasn't about to just roll over and let any random quack calling themselves a "surgeon" operate on me.
Take Germany, for example. You see plenty of esthetic surgeons over there who can't even pull off a functional procedure without calling in an ENT specialist to bail them out. Look, if they’re experts and they're being transparent about it, fine—no skin off my nose. But let's be real: a lot of them aren't.
They couldn't answer half my questions, and honestly, they didn't exactly inspire any confidence in their expertise either. I kept getting this sinking feeling that I was playing Russian roulette. It feels like they're eventually going to expand their investigation into the North America, which is wild because I have massive respect for our experts—the ones who actually know what they're doing.

After digging through the internet for a while, I finally made up my mind. It was pretty obvious: I'm heading straight to Makarska to see Dr. Smith.

Mr. Dr. Smith is a fantastic guy—a true expert and a total professional. But more importantly, he’s a realist who keeps his feet firmly planted on the ground. Even though his skill level and expertise put him leagues above almost every other surgeon I've crossed paths with (and trust me, I've met plenty), he hasn't let any of that go to his head.

I’m still genuinely impressed by how smooth everything was, from the organization side of things—like having a driver pick me up at the airport—all the way down to the hotel booking and the initial consultations. My driver was incredibly kind; since it was my first time visiting the area, he took the time to walk me through the local history and gave me the lowdown on what’s actually happening in the country right now. As for the hotel, it was fantastic. It’s right in the heart of downtown Makarska, just a five-minute walk from the clinic. The staff were professional and super friendly, and honestly, the food was top-tier.

Last night, Mr. Dr. Smith actually picked me up in his own car. After we finished the consultation, he drove me right back to my hotel. During our talk, Mr. Dr. Smith answered every single one of my questions with incredible precision—he really knows his stuff down to the tiniest detail. He even managed to spot things that the specialists in Munich didn't even bother mentioning, like that specific muscle pulling my nose downward and how the left side is actually worse off.

The next morning (Sunday), even though Mr. Dr. Smith claims he's a total night owl, he actually showed up personally to pick me up and drive me to the clinic so I could get prepped for surgery. His team—who were just as kind, funny, and professional as he is—welcomed me with open arms. It made starting the procedure a whole lot easier when you're in such a great mood.

The anesthesiologist on Dr. Smith’s team is a total pro. He walked me through every single stage of the anesthesia process just so he could very gently "turn out the lights" when the time came.
Surgery's finally done. It took an hour and 40 minutes, but I'm out and currently being moved to recovery.
Once I finally came around, Dr. Smith actually showed me everything he’d pulled out of my nose—the polyp, fragments, and all that junk. 🙂 ...so that he’d actually drive me personally to the Hotel afterward.
The Doctor's team was actually pretty sweet—as I was heading out of the office, they handed me a bag with some cheese burek and yogurt. It was a nice touch, letting me just crash in my room for the rest of the day to recover without having to worry about finding something to eat.

Over the next few days, Dr. Smith was actually really looking out for me. We ended up forming a genuine connection during that time; he opened up quite a bit about his life and all the work he’s done working abroad. He’d even swing by to pick me up and drive me to my dressing changes. It felt like he was personally tending to me after some major nose surgery, walking me through every single detail of the operation as if I were recovering right in my own living room.

They pulled my packing sponges out the day after surgery, so I was able to sleep pretty comfortably for the rest of the recovery.
Regarding the actual nose work, I have to say: the hump is completely gone, the tip and nostrils are slightly narrower, and the nose looks shorter.
To get this result, they basically had to break the nose in four different directions, but here I am just 10 days post-op and almost all the surgical traces are invisible.

I didn't feel any pain at all, aside from a bit of pressure while the sponges were still in there, but thankfully they weren't in for very long.
At the end of it all, the trip back was fully organized by Dr. Smith, and his kind driver dropped me off right in Orlando.

What else can I say? A huge thank you to the Doctor. I am beyond thrilled with the results, especially since I got the chance to meet such a great expert and a genuinely cool guy.

For those of you thinking along the lines of, "The guy is from Germany, the Doctor definitely made a killing off him," I hate to disappoint you. The price was totally fair and is clearly posted on the wall in the office. I should also mention that Dr. Smith didn't charge me for the exams, the consultation, or any of the supplies he gave me for the trip home (pills, tapes, creams, oils, drops), nor for the transport. Even the Hotel rate is 10% cheaper when Dr. Smith books it for you.

I’m a transparent person. Even though I hold a high-level position back in Germany, I’m standing by my experience and I have nothing to hide. I’m happy to answer any questions you have, but rather than me writing a novel, just look at the results and see for yourself.

P.S. Please ignore any typos—living abroad for 14 years definitely takes its toll.🙂

Best,
Jasmin

I'm really glad to see you're happy and satisfied after the surgery... but the fact remains that everyone who has seen Dr. Smith has nothing but praise and satisfaction, and most importantly, they are happy with their noses (both functionally and aesthetically).
Carol Diaz31 said:You look like a little piglet. 😂 It’s honestly pretty weird... my nose is completely swollen, especially on one side, and my face is just as puffed up. But man, I feel incredibly sweet right now. 🙂
Honestly, it's a little smaller than I was expecting, but hey, I'm not complaining.

I don't think I can even get a decent look at my new style through all this swelling, acne from the bandages, greasy hair, and bloodshot eyes... 🤣

I'm honestly glad you're happy with how things look right after the mold comes off. Just hang in there—it only gets better from here. You've already survived the hardest part.👍
Donna Watson80 said:Do penicillin allergies or reactions to other meds have anything to do with anesthesia? Like, does it matter when they put me under?

Hey there. You absolutely have to mention those allergies to the anesthesiologist when you're talking. They’ll know exactly how to handle it. Ugh, I'm still stuck in this cycle too... just a few more test results to get back from and then I'm finally done.🙂
wearyotter112 said:Okay... since you're from the south, can you tell me why you didn't stick with Glušac for your surgery? I've been torn between him and Zambell, and now I'm just lost. Have you actually dealt with him? Being from Makarska, I haven't heard anything great about him, even though a lot of girls around here swear by him.

I’ve replied to a few private messages already, but since I want everyone to benefit, I’ll post some of the answers here that I think you all care about. I went to see Glumičić for my consultation, and the second I walked in, instead of walking in there demanding "I want this" or "I want that," I just asked him how he saw my nose and what he would actually recommend. Honestly, after he spoke, I didn't have a single thing to add or argue. He’s not pushy at all—he actually listens and makes you feel comfortable... at least, he did for me. I asked for a quote based on my specific needs, my goals, and the fact that I need to stay in a two-day recovery suite. It came out to $2,000, and if you want to talk about payment plans, it's best to contact them directly. As for Glušac... I don't know. Makarska is such a small town that I just got this gut feeling he was the right one for my nose. I’d go with him in a heartbeat—not that he isn't good, but sometimes you just have to trust your instinct. I ended up choosing Glumičić, and I’m crossing my fingers that everything goes perfectly. Once this is all over, I’ll be back here to let you all know how happy and satisfied I am.🙂 If anyone else needs info, just ask. Cheers, everyone! And yeah, the nerves are officially starting to kick in.😢
Carol Reed64 said:Hey, I'm actually thinking about booking with Glumičić too. Could you tell me how much the surgery would run me? Also, do they offer any payment plans through American Express?

Mine ended up being about $2,200. Since I don't live in Washington, D.C., I’m staying at his place in an apartment nearby. Honestly, I’m really happy with Glumičić—especially after the consultation. We just clicked immediately, no guesswork involved. When are you planning to go? And as for the payment plans... I'm not sure, so you should probably check directly with them. Good luck!
wearyotter112 said:Is Paloma actually from Makarska?

😉 Oh, she absolutely is!!!
Hey everyone... Well, I finally pulled the trigger on nose surgery. Just finished chatting everything through with Dr. Glumičić, so now I just have to pick a date and let them know... ugh, the nerves are real, but hey, we're all in this together!!! To anyone else heading in for their procedure soon, I'm wishing you a super fast recovery and the perfect results you're looking for 👍 If anyone else happens to be seeing Dr. Glumičić anytime soon, hit me up or shoot me a message... 😉
