Hey everyone 😉I’ve posted here before about how the bone on the right side of my nose seemed to grow back or "strengthen" after my surgery, and I promised I’d come back with an update...

Well, it’s been three years since the procedure, and honestly, I’m just not happy with the results. My nose has definitely grown—not quite back to how it was originally, but it’s significantly larger than it was immediately following the surgery. To be more specific, the tip has drooped quite a bit, that middle bone structure has thickened and widened, so that bump on the right side is very noticeable again.

I went back to see my original surgeon for a checkup, and his take was that my nose still looks better now than it did before the operation. I mean, I definitely agree with him on that point, but when you decide to go under the knife, you expect to actually be satisfied with the outcome—you don't expect it to keep growing, or at least not in a way that's this obvious.
In my opinion—and this is probably what happened—I just went in too early. I was only 16 at the time, and I think that’s the main reason. Please don't take this the wrong way or think I'm blaming the doctor; as a layperson, I can't really see where he could have messed up, so it was likely just a case of being a bit too hasty. If you're thinking about this, ladies, please wait until you're 18 or 19. Don't rush it.

Anyway, the doctor refused to perform a revision surgery (even though I offered to pay the standard rate), so I've scheduled an appointment this Monday to get a second opinion from a specialist in Washington, D.C.

It’s not even necessarily because I want to redo the whole thing; I just really need to understand what is happening and why the shape has changed so drastically over the last year.

To everyone out there recovering from surgery, I wish you a speedy healing process, and for those of you preparing for yours, if you have any questions, feel free to ask—I'm here.

steelangler88, Lollatut I feel like I’m dealing with the exact same thing you guys are.

For me, it's this little bump on my right side—it's more on the flank, so you can't really see it, but you can definitely feel it, and man, it drives me crazy!

The weird part is that this showed up about two years before my six-month check-up, even though I didn't hit anything or have any kind of injury. Plus, it doesn't even hurt.

My doctor just told me to wait another six months to a year to see if it goes away on its own—which honestly nearly gave me a nervous breakdown because I'm pretty sure he was just saying that to cover his own tracks since he had no clue what caused it either..

Daniel Howard11 I actually wrote you a few pages ago about Toncic—I’ve been a patient of his before, so if you feel like doing some digging, there's info out there..

Anyway, long story short, both him and his son are incredibly polite, and so are the nurses. I was really happy with my surgery two years ago; everything went smoothly and I didn't have any issues at all. The only thing is, over the last six months or so, the cartilage on my right side started spreading out, and now I have this bump—it's not visible yet, but I can definitely feel it under my fingers. But hey, it is what it is—I don't assume it's anyone's fault, honestly...

I'm going back in this winter, though I'll admit I'm debating whether to go back to them or try somewhere else—I'm thinking either Kinchela or Glumicic.

Does anyone happen to know what the current pricing is for the Glumicics? I can't seem to find anything online

Hey ladies, I’m new here! I’ve been lurking and reading through your posts for a bit, so I figured I’d jump in and share my own experience..

I had my rhinoplasty back in the summer of 2006 with Dr. Toncic. At the time, the cost was $3000, though his son was about two or three thousand cheaper—I don't remember the exact math, but I assume it's because he's younger and still building up his experience. I’m guessing prices are much higher now, since it seems like everyone else has bumped theirs up lately.

I have to say, I was actually pretty happy with my nose back then. It wasn't even huge before the surgery, just had this little bump. I didn't want anything drastic or one of those tiny, upturned "button" noses, so we just smoothed out the bump and shortened it slightly. Nothing too extreme.

Anyway, I’m about 5'4", and back then—roughly two years ago—I was around 120 pounds. Now, I’m about 25 pounds lighter. I dealt with some digestive issues and whatnot, not to bore you, but things have finally stabilized. The only catch is that the weight loss shows up massively in my face; my cheeks have thinned out a lot, which makes my nose stand out way more than it used to.

I wouldn't be stressing over this so much—or even considering another surgery—if a second issue hadn't popped up.

Over the last five or six months, I've noticed the cartilage on my right side feels like it's spreading out—not the cartilage itself, but that side structure. When I run my finger along the left side, everything feels perfectly smooth, but when I go over the right, I feel this little ridge followed by a sudden dip. Thank God it isn't really visible to anyone else unless they're staring intensely at me, but it drives me crazy. Honestly, I'm just bummed because I spent all that money, everything was perfect, and now I can feel this lump whenever I touch my nose.
I went in for a follow-up with my doctor recently, and they told me this kind of thing can happen—maybe partly because of the weight loss. When I asked if I should go back under the knife, they basically said they don't recommend surgery if something is imperfect to the touch but looks fine visually. I have to admit, that was pretty disappointing to hear. He said it almost dismissively, but look—if I'm going to get surgery, I want it to be perfect both visually AND to the touch.
So, I'll most likely head back in this winter, though I'm not sure who I should see yet.😕
Sorry for the long rant, but maybe it'll help someone else out...
