So, my doctor actually had me come in just to draw half a liter of blood...
Everything was checked: CBC, metabolic panel, electrolytes, CRP, liver enzymes, amylase, iron, ferritin, urea, creatinine, urinalysis... you name it. She really didn't hold back on the testing.
And honestly? My blood work came back so perfect it’s almost unreal. Everything is sitting right in the sweet spot—not a single value even brushes against the high or low limits. I'm heading back to see her tomorrow to figure out the next steps. She mentioned she might suspect an auristic migraine, which would explain why my head's been pounding; she thinks it could be that or maybe something with my sinuses, since the pain tends to hit hardest every morning. I'm really hoping it's just one of those things. She'll probably send me for an EEG tomorrow, though I'll likely have to wait about a week just to get an appointment at the clinic.
Honestly, don't worry about me—I can read my own lab results just fine. I mean, I was a medical technician, after all... haha. Getting my driver's license was always the main goal here. Since I wasn't feeling any actual pain, I figured the physical would just pass on its own. It’s not like anything hurts—not my stomach, my liver, my pancreas, or any part of my abdomen, really. Nothing. Just this occasional nausea... but lately, even that's getting on my nerves, so I'm going to go get checked out and finally put this to rest. I know what you're thinking right now (a medical tech who doesn't pay attention to his own health)... but what can I say? It runs in the family; we're all pretty much the same way. And during the medical exam, when the doctor asked if I had any underlying health issues... I just said no. I didn't want to risk failing the exam.
As for this whole situation where I've been feeling nauseous for three days straight... I probably trashed my stomach with that burger I grabbed. I'm officially done with fast food. I actually feel great today, well, if you don't count those two hours of standard nausea every single morning right after I wake up.
Anger? No, I couldn't possibly be angry at someone who has given me so many helpful pieces of advice and ideas.
No, I haven't been taking any meds... I actually just went for my DMV physical five days ago to renew my license... they pulled some blood for me... if I recall correctly, it was a CBC, metabolic panel, electrolytes, and one other thing, plus they did urine tests—bilirubin and all that stuff. They didn't flag anything, so I passed the medical exam, which presumably means those results were fine.
I know inflammation usually comes with a fever, and since gastritis is essentially stomach inflammation... I really doubt that's what we're looking at here.
Chronic anemia... maybe, if there's a link to ferritin levels... but as for hepatitis, honestly, where is that even coming from? I've been vaccinated against Hepatitis B, so it's not that; the others are transmitted through infected blood or other bodily fluids, nothing I've had contact with. So, the only real possibility would be Hepatitis A or E, which you pick up from contaminated food or water—thankfully, those are much milder than the rest. We'll see though... I'm going to get more blood work done, an abdominal ultrasound, and a H. pylori test... and if those come back clean, she'll probably send me in for an endoscopy :S. Fingers crossed for me... and thanks for the reply, Patrick Carter.
You aren't exactly breaking new ground here; I feel like I've heard this exact same thing five hundred times already.
And honestly, watching the grammar, the spelling, the syntax... all that nonsense just gives me a headache. Just go find someone else to mess with.
Elizabeth Richardson said:It’s entirely possible you're dealing with some kind of stomach bacteria—Helicobacter pylori, I think it's called—there are probably a hundred threads on the forums discussing that exact thing.
Aside from that, maybe pick up a quick grammar lesson. Only the first letter should be capitalized, unless you're using a proper noun. So, the thread title should have been "Nausea every morning"...
Look, please don't try to lecture me on grammar. I likely know it better than you do... I just wrote it that way to make it pop.
I’m not feeling any pain, and there’s no fever to speak of. I guess I’m just wondering what they actually end up calling this thing... you know, with symptoms similar to mine... just so I can wrap my head around it.
But then again, I realized that everything I just listed could basically be a symptom for at least 500 different things... so, really, it could be anything on that list.
Personally, as long as I’m feeling up to it—you know, before the nausea kicks in—I can eat just about anything. Nothing really bothers me.
How did you manage to get rid of that nausea, though? Was it specific medication for the gallstones, or were you just dealing with some kind of symptomatic treatment?
Well, I have to hand it to you... I can't really argue with that. I keep falling into this trap of thinking everything will just sort itself out on its own—you know, how most things eventually do—so I just keep putting it off.
It’s not like it’s totally debilitating right now; I can still go about my day and get stuff done. But honestly, this daily nausea is starting to wear me down. I’ve had enough, so I’m actually planning to head to the doctor sometime this week.
The real irony here is... well, I’m a young medical technician. When it comes to anyone else's health, I’m all over it, doing everything by the book. But when it's my own? I just don't care much. I guess since I've never really dealt with health issues before, I haven't felt the need to be proactive.
Thanks to everyone for the help, the suggestions, and all the comments. If anyone else has an idea or is dealing with something similar, please feel free to share.
I don't have any heartburn at all... And cholesterol? That seems unlikely since I'm pretty thin and I stay far away from greasy food.
I just recently learned that this could actually be a hidden form of anemia... the kind where your iron levels look totally fine on paper, but you really need to check your ferritin levels. Apparently, low ferritin is the telltale sign of that "hidden anemia," and the symptoms are identical to what I'm dealing with right now.
It also feels a bit strange to me that I'd have gallstones, considering how young I am—only 18—and I’m genuinely careful about my diet. I know most of them are made of cholesterol, but I don't eat fatty foods. I avoid anything oily like the plague.
Anyway, please share your thoughts or whatever you think... anything helps.
And if anyone happens to know a way to get rid of this sneaky nausea, let me know.
Well, after everything you guys just laid out for me... I think I'm heading straight there this Monday right after I clock out.
And I eat properly, too... nothing excessive. I don't drink alcohol at all, actually. And before this, I almost never dealt with nausea after meals.
Ronald Williams9, would you mind telling me... what other symptoms were you dealing with? For me, it’s this nausea every single morning... and sometimes it just lingers for most of the day. Every morning when I get up, I feel sluggish and exhausted... I have this strange bitter taste in my mouth, my mouth feels dry... and occasionally, I get these headaches. How did you manage to get rid of that nausea? I start a new job this Monday, which is a real headache because I can handle being tired for a while until I get a proper diagnosis and start treatment, but this nausea is what’s really killing me. When I feel this sick, I just can't function.
Apologies for being late to the party on this one... It seemed to settle down for a while, but then it started acting up again.
It’s not like they're burping all over the eggs or anything... but there's definitely a strange sort of breath odor.
I'm an 18-year-old guy, and I've run into a bit of a snag lately. For the past two weeks, every morning right after I wake up, this wave of nausea just hits me. It feels like if I even try to take a bite of anything, I’ll end up throwing it all back up, so I've just been skipping breakfast entirely. Usually, the feeling fades away after an hour or two, and by lunch, I'm perfectly fine—eating like nothing ever happened.
I was wondering if stress might be the culprit... though, looking back, I haven't really been under much pressure lately. Honestly, there isn't much to stress about since my high school graduation went surprisingly smoothly.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing this?
