Thank you for the response. My primary care physician, who is an exceptional doctor in my eyes, shared that same perspective. On my own initiative, I sought out a private gastroenterologist and hepatologist. He also advised me not to panic and recommended a 1.5T MRI, which should provide much clearer imagery than the previous CT scan. During the CT, the specialist showed me the liver on the monitor; while there is a visible change, there appears to be no difference compared to the surrounding liver tissue, which I took as a positive sign. In your experience, how reliable is a 16-slice CT scan?
Greetings, everyone. During a routine ultrasound, a lesion measuring approximately 15mm was discovered on my liver. My physician immediately recommended testing tumor markers—specifically AFP, CA 19-9, and another—and I subsequently underwent a CT scan of the liver. My markers came back normal, and while the CT confirms an abnormality, it primarily suggests a benign condition. I am currently asymptomatic, and my blood work, including hepatitis screening, shows no issues. The lesion is not a hemangioma, but rather some type of adenoma. Is this dangerous? My doctor insists it is nothing to worry about and suggests we simply monitor it periodically via ultrasound. However, I am genuinely shaken by this news; frankly, I am so terrified that I’d rather just jump straight to a liver transplant. 😲
