I’m a bit concerned about my most recent liver panel results and was hoping I could get some perspective from you guys.
Here is the breakdown of what’s going on:
Results from May 6th, 2009:
AST-54
ALT-161
GGT-95
Previous results from February 3rd, 2009 (which were normal):
AST-20
ALT-28
GGT-22
Just as a side note, ever since my bilirubin was first flagged back in 1992, it has consistently stayed in the 23-29 range.
Also, about a month ago, I had to deal with some sciatica. To manage it, I took 8 injections of Voltaren, 3 injections of dexamethasone, and did 5 days of electrotherapy.
Since the sciatica seemed to be clearing up, I noticed a fever pop up about five days ago—it hit 101.3°F one day and then dropped to 98.6°F the next. I didn't feel any different than usual, no other symptoms at all, but my doctor sent me in for blood work, which is when they caught these elevated liver numbers.
Now she's sending me to get more specific markers checked.
A little background: I'm 42 years old, I don't drink alcohol at all, and I haven't been feeling any abdominal pain.
I'd really appreciate any advice or thoughts you might have on what this could potentially be.
