Quick question for the folks here who really know their stuff:
I just got my results back from my routine physical, and for the most part, everything looks totally fine! Most of my blood work is right within the normal range, except for my ALP (alkaline phosphatase). It came back at 156, but according to the lab report, the upper limit for men over 20 is 142. I remember seeing somewhere online that the cutoff might be as high as 270, though I’m honestly not sure if that’s accurate or just wishful thinking on my part.
Now, I’ve been doing a bit of reading, and I noticed some mentions about this being used as a tumor marker if the levels are elevated. What I’m really wondering is, if there were actually something wrong, would other things in my blood work also show up outside the normal range? And when people say "elevated," what does that actually look like in practice? Are we talking a slight bump of 10% or 20%, or is it something much more dramatic?
