Good grief—that's insane. I thought a rhinoplasty was usually around 7,000 to 11,000 tops.
Ugh, I honestly don't know what to do anymore—I've been obsessing way too much about my nose lately. It’s always bothered me and I’ve been struggling with it for years, but now it’s just driving me crazy. I've decided I finally need surgery, but the money just isn't there right now. If anyone has any advice, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

You get whatever anesthesia the anesthesiologist decides is best for your specific surgery. In my case, they told me right away that local with sedation was out because there's just too much blood flow involved. Usually, you go under general unless it’s some tiny little procedure.

I get that the whole thing is frustrating, but don't take it lightly—this is actual surgery. It's a real operation. Nobody is giving you a guarantee that everything will be perfect, let alone a guarantee that you'll even wake up. That risk is baked into every single surgery. Every. Single. One.

Honestly, you need to dial back the drama a bit. I've been through a major surgery myself and I know how this works—it wasn't even that scary for me personally. I realize everyone reacts differently, but you're being a little paranoid.

I feel a bit better now😂
Susan Smith13, I heard you might be able to get surgery before 18 if they confirm it’s causing you mental distress or something similar... though I'm not sure if that applies once you turn 18. Hmm... maybe ask around..
I totally get the nose thing—mine is an absolute disaster too, like... there's just no comparison. My parents might let me do it, but they won't even hear of it. To them, it's all "oh this is terrible" and blah blah blah... are they still living in some outdated mindset? They think any surgery that isn't strictly medically necessary is totally pointless. Maybe it's not "needed" for health, but it kills your spirit. It's awful. It bothers me so much that I'm pushing for it, just waiting until I'm an adult... As for not knowing how to afford it—well, if you take out a small loan, it's doable. Sure, the economy is a mess right now, or rather, the whole world is 😂🤣 but whatever, if certain billionaire politicians can buy themselves luxury cars, we can surely afford to fix our noses, haha...🤣

hehe, you really made me laugh... and you're right about it killing you mentally. Believe me, mental pain is way worse than physical pain and lasts much longer. Well, I'll manage somehow; one day it'll click. Just gotta stay positive, I guess—that's all I have left. I'm constantly hoping that one day this will all be behind me and I can finally feel good about myself... I'm not looking for perfection, just some small changes, but even that feels like a lot...😉
I totally get where you're coming from, rowdymarlin99—I’ve been dealing with the exact same thing. Ever since I was about 12, I've been miserable about my nose, especially in profile because it's got this prominent, larger shape. I'm 20 and a half now and still haven't gone through with surgery because I don't have my own cash. My parents could easily cover it, but they just won't. I wouldn't say they're being stingy, per se, but they're old-school and super conservative—they constantly try to convince me my nose isn't even big or whatever... just the usual nonsense. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I'm in college, so I thought I might pick up some work over the summer, but it's nowhere near enough money. I'm stuck. And I shouldn't even have to emphasize how much it bothers me—I just can't accept it. So, yeah, that's the situation. I was wondering if you think something like this could be a psychological issue, or if there are any options to get it done for free or something...
You only need to be 18 for the surgery—honestly, I have no idea why anyone would think you'd need to wait until 22.
