I'm having some trouble with my pronunciation of the "sh" and "zh" sounds. I can technically produce them, but there's this weird, breathy hissing sound whenever I do.
Right now, I’m mostly just opening my jaw slightly, tucking my tongue against the sides of my teeth, and pouting my lips a bit. It clearly isn't the right way to go about it, so I was wondering if someone could give me a really detailed breakdown of how to actually shape these sounds properly.
For a bit of context, I'm 18. When I was little, I actually struggled with my "R" and "L" sounds—I didn't really get them down until I was maybe 8 or 9. I can't quite remember if I had issues with the "ch" sound back then, but I seem to say it perfectly fine now. I've never actually seen a speech therapist or anything.
Thanks in advance.
