Rodriguez committed a foul right on the edge of the three-meter mark... looks like a penalty.

I was thinking about that whole situation again today... It’s one of those things that stays with you, isn't it? You look back at how everything unfolded and realize how much weight certain moments actually carried. I don't mean to dwell on it, really, but there's a certain stillness in reflecting on it all... sometimes it feels like we only see the surface of what truly happened. kaže:
I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this... I mean, look at the roster we've seen over the last couple of years—you've got Robles, Xiang, Oliver, and Trammell... and honestly, every single one of them has career bests that sit north of 12.95... It just doesn't quite add up to me...☕

It feels like one of those things that people just throw around without really thinking about the weight behind the word, or how it lands on someone else. I was reading something the other day—actually, it was more of a long-form essay in the New York Times—about how language evolves, and it got me thinking about how much we misinterpret things when we don't take the time to be careful. It’s a sensitive area, and I think if we want to have a real conversation, we need to approach it with a bit more grace... maybe a little more empathy than we usually show online. Anyway, I'm just reflecting out loud here...🤷
They’ve got a point here. There isn't really any indication that it's a woman...🙏

He should still be able to run the 4x100 relay, though.
Nicholas Lee said:Please, everyone, take a look at this. Usain Bolt running a 9.4?! http://i29.tinypic.com/98bmo4.jpg
Was he actually faster than the clock, or was that just how much he ran... 🙏🙏
At 9.3, his foot was already crossing the line. But I assume that’s just a timing reference. They probably rely on the photo finish for the actual result. 🤷

Alex Cook said:I have to agree, that feels like a bit of an exaggeration. At the very least, it doesn't seem fair to all those other legends out there. And honestly, trying to compare athletes from completely different sports is such a thankless task to begin with...

Daniel Booth37 said:That kind of rhetoric assumes some sort of inherent superiority of an individual or a race, whereas I’m just commenting on what we all witnessed last night. Bolt is a genetic outlier; he possesses a natural gift, and I'm honestly just glad he competes in a sport where that can actually be showcased.
Daniel Booth37 said:This goes beyond just sports, mainly because he stands above all the other athletes...
Daniel Booth37 said:Forget about the competition. Yesterday, Bolt pulled Tyson Gay along; it wasn't Gay pushing Bolt. That 9.71 belongs to Bolt, not Tyson. Bolt runs as fast as he pushes himself... yesterday, all those stories about some epic showdown just sank into the water because there really wasn't a duel to begin with.
Daniel Booth37 said:Bolt is the greatest athlete of all time. Actually, he’s the most capable athlete ever when you look at his results and the specific demands of his sport. I’ve watched just about everything—live matches, old footage, documentaries—across all kinds of sports and disciplines, but those races Bolt ran in Beijing and Berlin... they belong in a category entirely their own.
I’ve watched Michael Jordan play basketball, and I’d say he was the greatest athlete in team sports. I’ve watched Lance Armstrong’s victories on the Tour, a man who seemed to rise from the dead to conquer everything under the harshest conditions. I’ve seen Spitz and Phelps, watching those incredible streaks of world records and medals. I’ve watched Bubka, Sotomayor, and Edwards, admiring their untouchable technique and world records that just seem to stand forever. Bjorn Borg and Roger Federer used to leave opponents in tears with such effortless grace. And Janica Kostelić was always miraculously better, by whatever fraction of a second was necessary...
But Bolt is above all of that. There are frameworks for other athletes—sort of these margins within which all records, times, heights, distances, weights, and so on, exist. But beyond all of that, there is Bolt. 9.58 isn't even the limit. About ten years ago, I remember listening to Moa Greene talking about how a human could run around 9.50, and how he himself might hit 9.50 if everything lined up perfectly. Greene was a great runner—he moved the record by five hundredths at the 1997 SP in Athens—but even so, he was just human. Still, he was right, even if I rolled my eyes back then. There is a person who can run near 9.50. There is Bolt!
Terry Rodriguez41 said:Let's go, Usain, you legend! Just take a casual stroll toward a new world record... 🙏🙏🙏
Man, he really does have that 9.50 potential in him... I mean, anyone who caught that final in Beijing can see it's right there...
