Hannah Newman42 said:It’s been about nine days since my surgery, and my nose still looks way too big. I get that there's swelling, but does anyone know how much more it's going to go down? I read somewhere that someone said maybe another 5%. I’m really hoping for a bigger change. What have you guys experienced? It’s smaller than before and flatter, but it’s not significantly smaller and isn't perfectly straight. I actually told my doctor that I want it smaller, shorter, and straighter. I want it much smaller—shrink it! Am I allowed to hope for that? Help! Someone please comfort me.

Alright, let me try to offer some comfort here.🙂

I haven't had the surgery myself (yet😁), but I went in for a consultation, and the doctor mentioned that patients often worry the change is too subtle right after the procedure. There are a few reasons for this. First off, the swelling hasn't fully subsided yet. Second, usually, when someone is obsessed with their nose, they tend to overanalyze it—me included, honestly, I can't help it😁—so it feels bigger than it actually is because you've been staring at it for hours on end; you just lose all objectivity. Then there's the issue where people often ask for a nose that doesn't actually suit their face shape. We might not realize it ourselves, but I trust that surgeons who specialize in rhinoplasty are competent enough to make that call🙂. They won't give you a miniature nose that leaves you dissatisfied, which would be WAY harder to fix than a nose that's slightly too large.
My doctor emphasized that she takes photos at various stages of recovery to document the progress and prove the results.

Hopefully, you'll feel more satisfied in a few weeks.🙂 Keep us posted.😉
Hmm, I'm actually pretty curious about this nose massaging thing...
Is everyone else who had surgery required to massage their nose too?

Or is it because of that implant (the one that absorbed)?

I just don't get why you'd need to massage the tip... I thought the cartilage was supposed to heal exactly how the doctor positioned it, right? Personally, I feel like I won't even want to touch my nose after surgery out of fear that I might accidentally move something out of place.🤷

Good grief, and that's after THREE months?? 😲

That sounds intense; you actually have me a little worried now. I haven't heard anything like that before.
It's like you're molding it out of Play-Doh yourself, wtf?

Was there something particularly complicated about the surgery, or what?
Because during my consultation, they told me the absolute worst-case scenario was just having an unattractive nose.😕
Grace Kim39 said:Look, I might sound like a total snob, but I have a question for the veterans here... is there any way to get a referral for surgery if I don't actually have a deviated septum or anything like that? (At least, I think I don't—my nose is just slightly off-center, but you can only tell if you really stare at it). The thing is, my nose is large and, like I said, a bit crooked, so I’d love an aesthetic procedure, but I definitely don't have the cash for it. Do I just need an opinion from one doctor (like a GP or a specialist) to get that referral, or do I have to go begging and bribing the entire medical establishment?

Please don't roast me for asking this.

Don't gang up on the poor girl.🙂
Kyle Bishop2, I feel the same way—there is zero chance they'll do this for you for free...
They wouldn't even operate on a mole in my hair that sticks out so much it catches on my comb and has bled several times already. My primary doctor told me it was mandatory to have it removed; I went to dermatology and explained everything, and some doctor there just lectured me about how it wasn't a big deal and that it didn't matter if it bled. Then she suggested I just go to plastic surgery...
I'm telling you this just for comparison—the system basically just wants to get rid of you...

As for the money, I don't know how old you are or what your income looks like (allowance, salary, student loans...), but I can tell you what I did.
When I was 20, I decided I wanted a nose job (purely cosmetic).
I realized then that it's a massive, irreversible decision, so I gave myself three years. If I still wanted it after that, I'd go for it.
In the meantime, of course, I saved up bit by bit.
I mean, it's not impossible to scrape together a thousand or two bucks.
Now I'm 23, I still want the nose job, and I actually have the money for it.🙂
I had a consultation at a private clinic and it was a pleasant experience; I got the impression they would actually take real care of me.
You could just post the whole face and censor the eyes, like some kind of grainy CCTV footage.😛

I have to admit, though—I’ve always had a thing for big, rugged noses on guys.

😍

Actually, thinking about it, I feel the same way about women. It just needs to have some definition.

Novak Djokovic's wife. She is pure fire.

The only thing I can't stand is potatoes. And unfortunately, I've got plenty of them.😢😢😢
I'm thinking about getting cosmetic surgery just for my nose tip—specifically to shorten it and give it more definition. Has anyone here actually gone through this? (And I'm not talking to Mark Rodriguez12, though her experience is basically why I decided to book a consultation with Rozita Gulic. She just isn't responding to my DMs😢)
