Took the cast off today. The nose looks alright, I guess, but you can still tell it's leaning a little bit to one side. I'm honestly not sure if it'll straighten itself out once the swelling finally goes down, or if I'll end up having to go back under the knife for a second surgery.
So, I'm 18, and about a year ago I totally smashed my nose in from some crazy trauma. It was bad enough that the ER docs didn't even want to touch it to set it—it was super crooked and definitely leaning to one side. Well, I finally went under the knife with some specialists a few days ago, and so far, things are looking pretty good! They just took the packing out today, and man, being able to breathe through both nostrils for the first time in a year feels incredible. Before this, I barely had 20% airflow on the left and maybe 50% on the right. Honestly, the surgery itself wasn't painful, just really annoying having those tampons in there, plus the antibiotics made me feel kind of nauseous. I also dealt with constant throat infections all year because everything was draining down my throat since it couldn't get through my nose. Getting the packing out wasn't even that bad, though a stitch popped inside a bit and I bled a little. I asked the doctor if that was normal, and he said it happens sometimes and it’s fine. So, I guess that's actually okay? Everything seems alright so far.
So, I had nose surgery a few days ago with Dr. Glumicic, and I’ve got a couple of things on my mind for anyone who's been through this before.
1. I caught a bit of a cold, so now I've got this constant drainage running down my throat and getting all over the swabs. I guess I'm just worried—could that lead to an infection or something scary like gangrene? I'm kind of freaking out a little bit. 😁
2. Every single night, I get these nauseous feelings, almost like there's a stone sitting in my stomach. Has anyone else dealt with anything like that?
