Rhinoplasty: Experiences and recovery tips?

I've spent months researching nose surgery—looking at both functional repairs and aesthetic tweaks—scouring the web and reading through countless reviews from local doctors and surgeons in my area...
Even while searching, I found myself quite taken with the doctor's website—it really was quite impressive. Duje Ostojić I just went ahead and scheduled my checkup—fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.$67).
So, the doctor finished my exam and mentioned I have a slight deviated septum—plus some widening in my nasal turbinates (I can't quite recall the technical term for it)—but nothing too major.
I actually brought up the idea of cosmetic surgery to him—and honestly, he insisted my nose was already quite nice—but I couldn't get past that little bump on the right side and the width of the bridge... so I decided to go through with a minor correction anyway. I made sure to tell him I definitely didn't want to end up looking like Miss Piggy—which, let's face it, is a valid fear—and he reassured me that it wouldn't be an obvious overhaul. He promised he’d just smooth out the bump so the change remains subtle, yet still leaves me looking my best.
I did my due diligence and ran all the necessary research before moving forward—I ended up having the procedure done in mid-January—and I have to say, I couldn't be happier with the results.

Nosić is essentially exactly who he’s always been—just with a little extra polish added to the edges—if that’s even the right way to put it, since I really didn't have much of a nose to begin with...
I had surgery under general anesthesia—nothing to complain about, really—though I did feel a bit lightheaded when I tried to stand up too quickly right after waking up. No nausea or anything like that, thankfully.
I have to admit—I was pretty skeptical when he told me that I wouldn't feel a single thing after the surgery... nothing at all. But I couldn't have been more wrong. It truly didn't hurt—not even a bit—and that’s considering I had both the functional and the cosmetic procedures done.
The only part that felt a bit uncomfortable—and honestly, a little bit painful—was removing the tampon on the fourth day after my surgery—but even then, it was over in a heartbeat.
Nosić is still a little swollen—though thankfully the bruising has finally cleared up. In my experience, those marks usually linger for about ten days—not all at once, of course, but they tend to fade in waves.
I’ve shared a few thoughts regarding my experience with the surgery itself—perhaps not in exhaustive detail, but... well, you get the idea.
Why I recommend Dr. Duje Ostojić—it really comes down to his approach. He just has this way of making you feel heard—which is rare these days—and his expertise is truly second to none.
I’ve had some pretty disappointing experiences with surgeons in the past—for instance, I once visited a well-known specialist in Chicago, only to have him yawn right in my face while examining me. He charged me a full consultation fee for what felt like a sixty-second appointment... that's just one example of the lack of care I've encountered. I should mention that I tend toward perfectionism, so I can be quite picky about who I trust. Dr. Duje was different—he actually took the time to perform a thorough exam and spoke with such a calm, steady demeanor. He listened intently to every single question and concern I had, even walking me through all the potential complications (though, from what I can tell, they are incredibly rare—I don't think he's dealt with any since moving into private practice). I did share a few stories regarding his colleagues, and his response was incredibly classy—he insisted that he must remain professional and felt it wouldn't be fair to comment on their work, though he made sure I knew he was listening to me.
My sister, Jelena, is incredibly kind—she’ll happily try to answer any questions you have, whether that's over a quick phone call or just catching up in person.
Even before the surgery, he told me I could call him anytime—even in the middle of the night—if I felt anxious or just had extra questions. After the procedure, once I was back home, he actually called me that first evening, then again the next day and the third day, just to check in on my pain levels and see how I was holding up. Honestly, I can't say enough about how much I appreciate that level of care. 🙂
