You really need to call 37 87 108 first (I think that's the ENT department). They'll get you scheduled within a month, maybe even sooner. Just don't show up there unannounced, because you won't be able to get anything done. 🙂

On March 14th, I'm scheduled for septoplasty at Mount Sinai. For those of you who have gone through this procedure, how old can my lab results be (EKG, blood work, urinalysis, etc.) before they're considered expired? I want to get everything done now so I don't run into issues getting admitted. Thanks.

ironsurfer10, did you have to wait a long time for your appointment and surgery? I emailed my referral and medical history since I don't live in the city. I sent it Thursday, called on Friday, and tried again all day today... but nobody picks up. No response to my email either.

It’s not even about the cost for me. A nurse was actually quite blunt when I inquired about scheduling my surgery; she asked why I was insisting on staying at this hospital when we are completely overbooked. She mentioned that the Department of Health isn't releasing any funding for elective procedures right now—they're strictly prioritizing emergency cases. Since my condition isn't considered an immediate life-threatening emergency, they basically told me I just have to live with it. But how am I supposed to "just live" with being unable to breathe at night, especially during the winter? Now that I finally want to fix this, I'm stuck because the government is in total chaos and there's zero budget for anything less than a crisis. After looking around some forums, I’m thinking about heading over to Mount Sinai (maybe Dr. Smith, Dr. Jones, or Dr. Miller?) and hoping they'll take me in 🙂..Does anyone know if the wait times there are long, or which specialist would be the best choice to see?

Hello. I am preparing for surgery to correct a deviated septum. I had a consultation with Dr. Tony Stark at Rib Hospital. He advised me to coordinate the procedure with my sister. However, when I spoke to her, she informed me that they cannot schedule it. They simply don't have the funding for these operations. I wouldn't even be on the list until December of next year—and even then, nothing is guaranteed. Apparently, because the healthcare system doesn't reimburse them, they can only prioritize emergency cases, like patients with nasal tumors, while leaving the rest of us waiting. Has anyone here dealt with this? I finally worked up the courage to do this, only to be blocked by their budget issues. Does anyone know of another hospital with high-quality doctors? Thank you.
