From what I can tell, it looks like you can only wipe entire drives or partitions. It doesn't seem to handle just the "free space" while leaving your existing files alone.
What I'm actually looking for is a tool that keeps my current data intact but overwrites all that "empty" space where deleted files are still lurking.

Looking for a tool, ideally fast and free, that can completely wipe files—basically overwriting the entire empty disk space with zeros or ones so data recovery software can't find a thing.
