Need help with physical therapy exercises! in Health ·
Does anyone here have some actual expertise to offer, or perhaps someone who has dealt with a similar injury themselves?
Need help with physical therapy exercises! in Health ·
Greetings.

About two and a half months ago, I was at a handball game when I took a nasty fall. I landed right on my left wrist, and I felt something snap in the joint area... I honestly thought it was just a bad bruise, so I waited about a week hoping the pain would subside on its own. It didn't. Eventually, I went to get an X-ray, and they gave me this diagnosis:
FRACTURA OSSIS SCAPHOIDEI SIN. SINE DISLOC.

They put me in a splint first, then a cast for three weeks. But when I went back for a follow-up to get the cast off, it turned out the bone hadn't healed quite right, so they had to put me back in a cast for another three weeks...

Well, I finally got the cast off today. My doctor didn't say much about whether it healed perfectly—though I assume it did if he’s letting me out of the cast—but he did emphasize that I need to start physical therapy as soon as possible...

The thing is, I can still feel pain right where the fracture happened... 🙄

- I really need to get to PT because my range of motion in my left wrist is so limited; I hit a certain point and then the pain just kicks in.

(jumping straight into the middle of things)

Since my primary doctor is currently away on vacation, I don't have a way to get a referral, even though the guy at the trauma center insisted I start exercises immediately...

By the way, my doctor isn't due back from his break until around January 10th. That feels like a lifetime, and I'm worried that waiting that long might actually make my wrist worse. It’s not exactly a pleasant feeling walking around with a hand like this...

(I tried calling some private clinics to see if I could book physical therapy privately, but they are completely booked up; the wait times are huge)

-->So, I was wondering if anyone here knows of any specific exercises for the wrist (diagnosis: fractura ossis scaphoidei sin. sine disloc.).
Just something to help loosen it up, because right now it's a total mess and I'm feeling a bit lost...

If anyone could help out, maybe by posting some exercises or even just a picture of what to do... I would be very grateful...

Best regards,

(...I didn't realize how much I wrote there. If you aren't in the mood for a long read, just skip to the "in media res" part)🙂)
