😁 I mean, I can't even help it when everyone starts dogpiling like this...
But whatever, the kid is the best! 😉

At this rate, they'll probably make drivers pull up at the finish line after every single lap just to hand the race director a hundred bucks, I guess.🤣
hollowcanyon6 said:He totally blew it by not holding onto that lead he just earned. I seriously can't believe this, but people have been linking the same YouTube video over and over, and they still insist that Lewis Hamilton obviously missed his chance against Kimi Räikkönen...
It just shows how rushed he was... and honestly, like he never learns from his mistakes. If he’d actually used his head, he would've overtaken Kimi properly.
Sam Roberts said:you're just digging your own grave here
He should’ve overtaken him right then and there. It doesn't even matter if he would've caught up later or whatever.
The whole point is that he didn't pass him immediately.
So yeah, you basically just argued against yourself.
hollowcanyon6 said:Of course there isn't going to be some specific rule for this. ☕
It falls under gaining an unfair advantage. He cut the chicane and got that edge, which put him ahead of Kimi Räikkönen even though his start wasn't great. I'm pretty sure that whole bit—whether Lewis Hamilton actually let Kimi through or was just slower—was the only thing people were arguing about.
Personally, I think Hamilton was just slower because of his entry line, so he didn't actually let Kimi past.
Sam Roberts said:do you even get the difference here?
missing a car right after the chicane—that means you're just stuck looking at his rear end
and
driving side-by-side after the chicane toward the next corner, where you pass someone like an idiot because you took a better line
hollowcanyon6 said:They basically just make up penalties on the fly for any incident happening in those last five laps. Back before 5/44, he would've just taken a drive-through, but now? He gets slapped with a twenty-five second penalty added to his total time, according to the rulebook.
lonebison19 said:Exactly, that’s what I was getting at! Look, if I have an issue with someone—which I don't, because these guys are all absolute pros—I'm not gonna go on a random tear just because they aren't my favorite driver. But yeah, the FIA's stupidity? That's real. I'd be losing my mind too if it were Sergio Pérez or anyone else dealing with that nonsense. I felt the exact same way last year when Lewis Hamilton could've snatched the title because the FIA basically wiped out two drivers who were ahead of him during the Brazilian Grand Prix. So, yeah, we aren't all just haters like you think!☕
stormybadger8 said:I honestly don't get it, you could probably kill me before I change my mind. Is there actually a rule saying you have to let him pass if you cut the track? Like, did Lewis Hamilton have to let Kimi through? Does the rulebook even specify if he has to give way after one meter, 100 meters, or like, a whole kilometer?☕
The penalty is just straight-up stupid.☕

Arthur Doyle70 said:What if they just park the car, hop out, and go: "Hey, my bad, you guys good?" then maybe they duct tape the part back on or wrap it in some wire, jump back in, and just keep racing? 😁😉
Arthur Doyle70 said:Lap 42, yellow flag out, Kim overtakes under the yellow—and no penalty? No nothing.
Then I start thinking about when Kim absolutely wrecked Sutil and he didn't even get a penalty either. So why the hell is Kovalainen getting punished today?
stormybadger8 said:Honestly, this is exactly why 🙂 I feel like watching the championship battle is just a total waste of time lately. 🤣 It’s honestly kind of ridiculous. Maybe next year they should just hand Max the Ferrari Trophy for the constructors' title and the drivers' championship right at the start of the season? Like, let Ferrari decide who they want to win this year, then maybe they’ll actually stop messing around. Then we could actually watch the fight for third place—at least that might be worth something. As for Ferrari, if they feel like showing up to a race, fine, but if not, whatever. ☕ The main thing is they just bag both titles at the beginning of every single year. 🙄

Look, just be objective here.
He kind of messed up.
It wasn't like he missed him; he just cut the chicane short, and then six seconds later he "passed" him because he was actually grabbing a better line through the turn.
He really should've let him through immediately. It’s pretty obvious Kimi can't catch him, so I guess they probably told him to slow down, which isn't even something Ferrari did.
