Hey, I've been playing recreationally for about 15 years here in San Francisco—mostly doubles, but sometimes singles if we're short on players.🙂
Regarding rackets—honestly, a decent graphite one in the $40-$50 range should be perfectly fine for you. Right now, I'm rocking this Victor model:
I picked it up at Silicon Valley Bank when they had a 30% off sale, and it's pretty solid. For me, the main thing is keeping it light—around 89-90g.
