If the bleeding is this brief and exceptionally light, we aren't actually looking at a period, but rather implantation bleeding, which occurs when the fertilized egg embeds itself into the uterine lining and blood vessels, causing mild spotting that typically lasts for up to three days.
However, as some of the women in this community have pointed out, we can't entirely rule out a hormonal imbalance causing a lighter period, though in a much larger majority of cases, this is simply implantation bleeding occurring during the latter part of the cycle, right before a regular period would be expected.
