So, does anyone else deal with spotting? I honestly can't wrap my head around what it actually is... Google isn't helping much here...
I've been dealing with it forever. First time was when I was 23, around day 10 of my cycle. Then nothing, then it popped up again after 2 or 3 cycles, then nothing, and now it's happening again. It's day 15. My OBGYN says it's totally normal—just ovulation bleeding... but I don't get why it happens, and why it doesn't happen every single time. Someone told me it's because an egg fails to release (??)... then another site says it's due to hormonal imbalances...
Then there's that spotting during pregnancy... but from what I gather, that usually happens right around when you'd expect your period...
And then there's implantation bleeding... which is about 10 days after conception...
So now you're just left wondering what's going on whenever it hits...
For the record, I'm not on any hormone treatments, though we have paused trying to conceive occasionally, so I'm just trying to figure out which type of spotting this is...
And btw, I'm not asking if I'm pregnant. I just want to hear your thoughts and experiences regarding all this...

I don't personally have experience with spotting, but I have a friend who dealt with it, and it really isn't a big deal. Her doctor told her that the spotting happens mid-cycle during her fertile window, and that only about 11% of Caucasian women experience it. She actually considered herself lucky because it acts like a built-in tracker for her fertile days...🙂
It doesn't even have to happen every month, just every few months or so, not constantly. I know it can be annoying and a total pain, but fundamentally, it’s nothing bad or dangerous...

I'm asking because my OB-GYN is suggesting I start birth control to get my cycle under control. When I asked about side effects, he basically told me there aren't any. But then I come on here and read all these posts where women are like, "Never again with the pill!"
So, what gives?

I was on them for almost 10 years. I started for contraception, and when I stopped the first time, everything just went haywire. I ended up having to go back on them just to regulate things. As far as regulating my cycle goes, they definitely helped. I had to stop taking them three months ago, and for the last two months, my period has been right on time—this month it actually showed up four days early. So yeah, if it's just for the cycle, I'm all for it.
The reason I don't want to be on them anymore is because I want my body to function normally. I want to be able to get pregnant one day, and obviously, you can't do that while you're on them.🙂

As for why my cycle didn't return to normal the very first time I quit... I honestly don't know. I think my mental state played a huge role in all of it. After all these years, I can finally say I'm happy with who I am and I'm actually enjoying being myself...🙂

Emily Vaughn63 said:So, I stopped taking birth control over six months ago. After that, I missed my period for three months straight, so my OBGYN prescribed some Dabronstone. Sure, I had some bleeding, but since then, my periods haven't been regular at all. This is the third time now where instead of a full period, I just get this light spotting, almost like discharge. I’m wondering if things will eventually level out because I really don't want to go back on the pill. My doctor already threatened to put me back on them if my cycle doesn't stabilize. But I refuse to keep choking down stuff that caused this mess in the first place.

Was your cycle actually regular before you ever started using birth control, or did you start taking it specifically to fix an irregular cycle?
If it was regular before, it should have stabilized by now... if it wasn't, you probably need to get your hormones checked.
As for me, I stopped taking the pill two months ago because I had to go in for surgery. My doctor put me on Dabronstone immediately, I had one cycle on it last month, and thank God, this month it finally came normally.

I was on them for nearly ten years total. I originally started on Cinderella for contraception, but when I stopped after four years, my period vanished—I was lucky if I got it four times a year. Not to mention the terrible acne breakouts... it was awful. So I switched to Diane, but those gave me splitting headaches, so I went back to Cinderella. I stayed on that for the last four years until two months ago. Now I'm just hoping everything settles down. Because honestly, there is no way I'm going back on pills, even if I only get a period twice a year.😁

Why am I leaking 24/7, every single day of the month? I bet some of you have perfectly normal discharge and just don't get why this is such a massive issue for others. This isn't normal. But according to my doctors, everything is "fine"... As soon as I sit on that exam table, the doctor basically makes her diagnosis before she even starts the actual checkup. Abnormal discharge...😠Everything seems fine on paper... but you know, I’m constantly wet and it just keeps leaking. It’s honestly not pleasant at all. And it doesn't even change with my cycle; it's the same thing for all 30 days of the month. I would give anything just to be able to feel completely dry for ten minutes...🙂
And when I really get worked up, man... it just feels awkward...😂

It’s like I wrote this myself, word for word...😉
The last time I was at my OB-GYN, she told me I have some discharge and a headache...😁She went ahead and stripped my stitches, but she decided to start me on treatment before I even got my lab results back. She loaded me up with ten days of Medazol 10, vaginal suppositories, and Micatin cream. Then, the results finally come in... everything looks perfect. No bacteria, no fungus, nothing...🙄I mean, everything seems fine, but I really shouldn't have messed around with Medazol 10...
