Are we overmedicating?

I try to steer clear of pills whenever I possibly can. It’s common knowledge that any medication comes with its own set of side effects and downsides. Most people tend to go overboard with painkillers and various other tablets, taking them way more often than they actually need to. You can't just take someone's word for it when they say they're hurting, but there are folks out there who will reach for a pill the second they feel even a tiny itch, and instead of solving anything, they’re just poisoning themselves. To make matters worse, they start building up a tolerance, which just forces them into a cycle of needing even stronger drugs to get the same effect.
