Period talk: Questions and advice

Hey everyone, I’m 23 and dealing with something a bit confusing... My last period started on July 24th and lasted five days, which is when I started taking Loette birth control pills. Around day 20 of my cycle—August 11th—I noticed this brown discharge. It’s really thick, dark, and heavy, and it just hasn't let up yet. On top of that, I’ve been feeling all those typical pre-menstrual symptoms. I've been pretty consistent with my protection, so I'm mostly wondering if this is just my next period starting early, or if it's just my body reacting to starting the pill. I'm stuck because I'm not sure when to start my next pack, and I can't help but worry if this is dangerous. I did go see my gynecologist about two months ago for an ultrasound and everything checked out perfectly fine at the time.
