I went to a concert last night and I’m still sitting here trying to process what I actually heard. Don't get me wrong, I love the classics, but lately it feels like composers are less interested in melody and more obsessed with seeing how many weird, non-traditional objects they can shove into an orchestra to create a specific "vibe."

There was this one piece where they were using instruments in ways that felt more like sound design for a horror movie than actual music. It's fascinating from a technical standpoint—the sheer ingenuity of how they manipulate the sound—but I found myself struggling to actually *connect* with it. It felt like I was watching a demonstration of physics rather than experiencing a performance.

I miss the days when you could just hum a theme after the lights came up. Now, I leave the hall wondering if I just witnessed a musical masterpiece or a really expensive way to make strange noises. Does anyone else feel like "experimental" techniques are starting to overshadow the actual soul of the music, or am I just getting old and stuck in my ways?

We’re basically filming a drama where drugs are the lead actor. 😁 Just kidding, the drug thing is more of a theme. But honestly, the worst part is that every single week one of the "actors" ends up getting sick before we even get a chance to start filming. And since it's Sunday, we're hitting our peak right now... buckle up.

Anthony Smith3 said:You could try using a beefier battery—you can probably pick one up for around $500$233... basically, you wire the floodlights directly to the battery and that should do the trick. Just check with an electrician on the specifics so you don't end up causing a little... incident 👍

Yeah... hahaha. 😁

Plan your shots ahead of time if you're gonna stitch them together later. My advice? Film the background first, check out how the light is hitting it, then try to mimic that exact vibe on the subject in front of the screen.

Looks like we’re scrapping the idea of using a green screen for this one. Instead, we're gonna try to actually build out the set. 🙂

Well, damn... nothing left to say. We'll just have to figure out another way to make this work, but thanks anyway 😁

haha, nice one. hhh

alright, thanks for the heads up. I'll go scout out what's available and get back to you.

oh, one more thing—does anyone know where I can find some smaller generators? Like, something quiet that won't drive the neighbors crazy? And what kind of price tag am I looking at for those??

Alright, look, I’m not sure if someone already started a thread like this, so my bad if I’m repeating myself. I’m trying to track down where I can pick up a legit green screen or blue screen along with some decent studio lights around Chicago or maybe just somewhere in the suburbs like Naperville. Does anyone know where the good stuff is kept, and roughly what kind of damage am I looking at for the price?
