Dealing with Osteomyelitis
in Health ·
Douglas Garcia52, it seems there isn't a single competent orthopedist in this entire hospital system...
My child has developed a painful swelling near the collarbone, accompanied by a sore throat, inflamed lymph nodes in the neck, and a temperature of 99.7.
The X-ray came back clear, and while the ultrasound barely picked up anything behind the clavicle, the bloodwork clearly indicates an infection, yet the MRI shows absolutely nothing. In the meantime, they have been administering intravenous antibiotics, and that lump near the collarbone has finally subsided. They are suspecting a mild case of osteomyelitis that might have entered through small sores in the mouth caused by dental braces, but I can't help feeling there might be something involving the lymph nodes being overlooked...
If anyone here has dealt with something similar, I would truly appreciate any insight you could share. My child is still hospitalized...
