I don't want to clutter things up by starting a whole new thread, so I’ll just drop another similar question here.

I picked up a laptop running Vista today.
From what I’ve gathered so far, Acronis True Image seems to be the gold standard for backups.

The thing is, I want to burn everything onto a DVD right away that's actually bootable. Essentially:
If I ever need to reformat the drive, I just boot from that blank disc and everything restores itself.

I’ve got True Image installed, but there are so many different settings that it's a bit overwhelming. Could someone walk me through the process and let me know if this is even doable?

So, my current plan is to go into the Backup Wizard, select "My Computer," then "Disks & Partitions," pick the partition, give the .tib archive a name, select "Create new full backup archive," and stick with the default options—maybe add a note if needed. But after that... 😂

I assume it just generates a .tib backup file, but what am I supposed to do with that file next?
