Just checking in from a private dental practice here in Chicago. I happened to stumble upon this site, and I figured I’d drop a quick thought...
Honestly, I had no idea people used this platform to swap intel like this, especially regarding dentists... Based on the five pages I’ve skimmed through so far, I can tell there are a handful of practitioners who feel forced to advertise themselves this way—which is their own business, even though, frankly, it shouldn't be necessary at all!
The real eye-opener for me, though? It feels like over 90% of the contributors on this site are, quite frankly, total cheapskates. Just straight-up scavengers looking for a handout.
They want top-tier service and high-end medical procedures, provided everything is as close to FREE as possible.
Good grief, people, don't you get it? You want premium quality? Well, you have to pay for it. It’s a simple equation: you get what you pay for.
Let me tell you about an experience I had about seven or eight years back:
One afternoon, a guy walks into my office without an appointment. He was a blue-collar worker, clearly struggling a bit financially, wearing a green jumpsuit, and he was in some serious tooth pain. I did a full exam and saw the damage: two fillings had fallen out entirely, three were partially gone, and two others were so old they were practically expired. That’s seven different teeth that needed work right then and there. Back then—just like now—I used to show patients exactly what was wrong with them in a very direct, hands-on way. It was considered pretty cutting-edge for our setting at the time, and I did the same for this guy...
His response? "Well, Doc, I actually went to see your colleague just yesterday (he’s right down the street from me, though we haven't met personally) for these exact same pains, and he told me everything looks fine."
So I asked him: "Does this colleague take your insurance?"
He said: "Yeah, that's exactly why I went to him!"
I told him: "Look, unfortunately, all I can do is diagnose your current situation. It's up to you to decide where you want to go to actually fix all THAT."
Everything would be perfectly fine if that colleague of mine hadn't been specifically named and recommended by one of you "keyboard warriors" on here.
I'm just relieved that my name, and none of my friends' names, ever show up on sites like this...
