Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
So far, I have cycled through two different dentists here in New York City. My reason for leaving the first dentist in Dubrava (Retkovec) was the sheer amount of waiting—I was looking at month-long delays just to get an appointment. Plus, there was way too much empty chatter and sweet talk, but very little actual dedication to the work itself. Honestly, I’m not even sure if she was doing a good job; she only fixed a few teeth because I specifically pointed out which ones felt problematic. If I don't bring it up, she definitely won't mention anything is wrong. You basically wait until the situation reaches a breaking point and the tooth actually starts hurting, even though I was going in every six months for preventive checkups where she insisted "everything was fine." After her, I switched to a second dentist (Željko Kraljević at the Community Health Center near Branimirov Market) based on a friend's recommendation. At first, it seemed great—he schedules appointments weekly—but lately, I've been questioning his expertise and professionalism. To get a single tooth fixed and filled, I have to visit him at least three times per tooth. He charged me $50 for a white filling, which seemed suspicious given that I used to pay $50, regardless of how high-quality the material might be. He had me take a photo of the tooth, then he "fixed" it, and now, for six months straight, I haven't been able to eat on the right side because it hurts with heat, cold, or even just touch. When I bring this up to him, he deflects by claiming that white fillings are just tricky and sometimes "don't seat properly," causing all these issues. So, I've been trying to fix three teeth for nearly a year now, and not a single one is finished. One filling fell out after just two months, and I was back in today. He put it in again, but now it hurts whenever I eat. :S For what it's worth, I usually have strong, healthy teeth, and this whole ordeal is driving me absolutely insane. Since I am still a student, I can't afford private practice dentists yet, so I was wondering if anyone could give me a specific recommendation? Please let me know a person, an address, or a Community Health Center that you know for a fact is reliable. Thank you in advance!
