Since I don't have my own doctor here, and I'd have to wait those 10 days for a new one, I'm wondering what private practice prices look like? Specifically, for an exam and an assessment to see if there's a bacterial infection—and potentially a prescription for antibiotics if so.

When you transfer, it takes a few days for Medicare to update everything for the new doctor. However, you can just head to the nearest Community Health Center, tell them you aren't registered with a local doctor yet, and that you're sick. They'll process you as a walk-in and see you.
