Looking for a specialist... in Health ·

Oh, they absolutely can. Honestly, I think half the people out there are doing exactly that right now.

Thanks. Much appreciated. Though, as usual, nobody is actually picking up the phone when I call. 🤦

Hey guys, I’ve got a bit of a silly question here... When it comes to seeing an internist at the local health center—I’m assuming you need to book an appointment in advance, right?—do I actually need to schedule something, or can I just show up? I’ve tried calling a ton of times already, but nobody seems to be picking up the phone, so I figured I'd ask you all. I just don't want to end up driving all the way there without an appointment only to find out I was wasting my breath calling for nothing 🤔

Brenda Johnson68 said:I'm looking for recommendations for a physio—both through Medicare and privately. I need both options... and I need them fast!! Basically, my arm was broken, it’s healed now, they took the cast off, and now the arm is just totally atrophied. I can't do anything with it, which is weird because I know plenty of others with similar breaks who aren't in this boat.. 😢

My LOM is terrified of catching whatever Sedeckov has and keeps saying—get to physical therapy ASAP!

Thanks in advance for any help! 🙂

For private, go to Physio at Savica (assuming you're in Washington, D.C., since you didn't specify a city). The guy is an incredible diagnostician—he actually saved me a few times after getting nothing but half-baked diagnoses from the ER and other places. He explains the exercises really well, too—like, highly recommended. Personally, I tend to get injured quite often, and once I found him, I wouldn't trust anyone else. 👍

I don't really know what to make of that—it feels like one of those half-finished thoughts you see floating around on Reddit when someone is too tired to actually type out their point. Maybe they just hit send by accident? Or maybe they're just testing the waters. Honestly, I can't tell. It’s hard to say without any context, I guess. says:
Hey there—does anyone have a solid recommendation for a chiropractor in Washington, D.C.? I'm looking for someone reliable, if that's even possible these days.
I’ve been dealing with this issue involving my entire left side—my ankle is acting up, and whenever I sit cross-legged, my whole left leg just tightens right up. To make matters worse, every single time I stand up after sitting for a while, I end up limping on that left leg for a few seconds. Even my neck on the left side gets hit with pain quite often. This hasn't been a one-off thing either; it’s been dragging on for months now.
Actually, does anyone even have a decent recommendation for where I should go? I mean, honestly, who can you actually trust these days? 🕺

If you're asking my two cents—and I guess that's what you're looking for—I’d definitely say go with a physical therapist for the leg. As for the neck? Honestly, maybe see both. It's probably best to have both perspectives on that one.

If you're looking for a chiropractor, go see Anthony Deutscher at Chicago Chiropractic—he’s located over in Lower Svetica, right down from Kennedy. Honestly, he's one of those rare finds who actually knows what he's doing. He won't just mess around with you for months on end, hoping things magically snap back into place or, even worse, making everything feel ten times worse because he doesn't get how the body works. He actually understands that your muscles need time to adjust to a new alignment—which, let's be honest, most people ignore. I probably shouldn't even start listing the mountain of injuries and issues he's sorted out for me—it's a pretty long list, thanks to some questionable family genetics—but yeah, he's the real deal.😉I think it’s worth mentioning that this guy literally saved my life. After getting a partially incorrect diagnosis at the ER—which, honestly, would have left me dealing with some serious spinal cord compression from a herniated disc (something that was pretty obvious even without imaging, if you ask me)—I finally went to see him. I made sure to get proper scans of my neck, unlike the rushed, half-baked job they did at the hospital, and he managed to fix everything in just a few visits. 😊

If anyone’s looking for a solid recommendation for a physical therapist, you should check out FiziBo over in the Savica area—specifically that little plateau right by the Lidl. Honestly, he’s a brilliant diagnostician—probably better than most doctors I've dealt with, and I don't say that lightly since my luck with physicians has been pretty abysmal, exceptions aside. He’s an excellent PT, too. It’s the same story as what I mentioned before—he really knows his stuff. After seeing him, I don't think I'd ever bother going back to those "public" clinics again.

I'm looking for a general practitioner here in Chicago, so I was wondering if anyone could toss some recommendations my way? I just moved to the area, so I definitely need to find a new doctor.

Which part of town?

Looking for some recommendations for a neurologist, a physiatrist, and a cardiologist here in Chicago.

Thanks

So, since a physiatrist is mostly just going to give you a diagnosis and then hand you off to a physical therapist anyway, I’d suggest approaching it this way:

1. Public options (they're decent—not top-tier, but fine, and honestly, I doubt anyone in the public system is significantly better than average): I’ve seen a few different physiatrists and PTs over on Kišpatićev street over the years, and they were all alright enough, I guess.

2. Private options (this is the high-end stuff—after dealing with some "public" doctors and some pretty botched diagnoses in the ER, I finally found someone who actually did the proper testing, nailed the diagnosis, and tracked my progress... you know, someone who actually knows their stuff): FiziBo (Ivor Božić) over by the Savica plateau. I originally went to him for one specific issue, he sorted it out, and eventually, I started seeing him for things I've been struggling with for years (and I'm finally seeing some actual, significant progress now).
