Your best bet is starting with your primary care physician to get a referral. You’ll likely need an internist or a hematologist. An internist covers a broad spectrum of issues, while a hematologist specializes specifically in blood disorders. Since any form of anemia is essentially a blood issue, a hematologist makes sense. Just a heads-up, one of them will probably send you to a gastroenterologist—a digestive specialist—because pernicious anemia can stem from an enzyme deficiency in the stomach that prevents B12 absorption, which is pretty common as people age.

Don't sweat it. Modern medicine has come a long way, and most vitamin deficiencies are easy enough to manage.😉
